Gon's Pov

A groan escaped me as I sat slowly from my rickety bed. Colorful lights shone underneath my door and I could hear loud blaring music. My body felt stiff from the uncomfortable positions I'd put myself into while trying my best to clean the basement.

I rubbed at my tired eyes with my sleeve and made my way slowly up the stairs. I pulled hard on the door to open it and the intense scent of smoke wafted into my face.

I choked on the vile air, it burned my eyes like tear gas and I tried to shut the door but it stuck in place. People filled the unfamiliar house and I kept trying to slam the door to no avail.

A drunk man got pushed towards me by another patron and he toppled over me, taking me down with him. We slid down the stairs and I shoved from underneath him as he lie on top of me at the bottom of the stairs.

The wind was knocked out of me when I took all the pressure from the fall, making me gasp for air painfully. After a grueling amount of time he stood up, I wheezed in a normal breath and relaxed against the cold floor.

But a sharp pain set in on my leg, it climbed my leg like electrical shocks and I furrowed my eyebrows in pain and confusion. I looked at it and it was bent to an odd angle. The pain grew heavier as the initial shock released and I became aware I was injured.

Through the wide-open door, I caught sight of my father, so I waved my hand to signal him to come over. He looked me up and down and smirked, continuing to walk wherever he was going unbothered. But I saw him turn to start coming to me, I smiled a little through my tears but it quickly dropped.

Instead of coming down to me he shut the door, the light faded out quickly and I was stuck in the darkness, in unbearable pain, and all alone.

I shuffled through my bag, trying desperately to locate my phone in the mess of clothes and my other belongings. My fingers finally touched the cold surface and I pulled it out shakily.

My trembly hands dialed Leorio's phone number, multiple rings echoed throughout the room until they paused and were replaced by Leorio's disgruntled voice.

"heh? Gon it's like 2 am, what do you want?" He grumbled, and I tried to speak back. But the words caught in my throat and glued my mouth shut. "I-I" was all I could get out before clenching my teeth together out of pain.

"Do you need me? I could come over if want" he said more concerned this time, I let out a choked whimper in place of words. I felt flustered and embarrassed so much so that I hung the phone up.

I'll just go to him. I'll be able to explain the situation better and get immediate help. I slunk over to the broken window at the top of the wall, I grabbed the sill and used it to pull my body up. My injured leg dangled limply behind me while I crawled through the tight squeeze of the window.

Once I was outside the cold breeze lapped at my skin. I pushed my body against the side of my house and braced myself with my hands. Steps turned to limps, limps turned to crawls, and eventually, I'd given in and collapsed in a patch of grass in an area unfamiliar to me.

The temperature felt like it kept dropping while I sat there, I relaxed onto the floor and caught my breath there. I didn't want to move. I also needed to get somewhere that could help me. But the grass was just too comfortable.

I woke up with the sun low overhead. I blinked in adjustment to the light. Even in the light, I had no clue where I was. I ruffled my hair out of my face and eased into a shadier spot.

I wiped at my runny nose, examining the surroundings and trying to piece together where the hell I was. I kept at it till I heard a voice I knew say "Gon?" I whipped my head back and saw killua.
