"Good morning little Brie." Jeremiah greeted the girl as she walked into the kitchen. Briella nodded to everyone as she rummaged through the cabinets to find something to help cure her headache.
"What are you looking for Brie?" Laurel asked the girl. She was working on something new for her book.
"Something, really anything to stop my head from spinning."
"Told you to not to not drink so much." Steven chuckled.
The girl stuck out her tongue before going back to find the medicine.
"Brie, we only have Advil and Conrad took the last one. But don't worry, my hangover smoothie will help." Jeremiah smiled at the girl.
"I'm going back to bed." Briella groaned.
"No don't. I'm making breakfast."
"My head hurts Jere. The last thing I want is breakfast."
"Hey look here. Eggs benedict. Your favorite." The boy placed the plate in front of the girl and smiled. "I know you want it."
The girl looked at the plate and couldn't deny the fact that she was starving. She woke up in the middle of the night throwing up everything she ate. She sighed and grabbed the fork and sat back down next to Laurel. "Thanks JereBear."
"You're very welcome my Lady." The girl silently moaned at the food. She didn't realize Jeremiah was such a good cook.
"Belly, where have you been?" Laurel asked as everyone saw the girl walk in. When Briella woke up this morning, Belly wasn't in bed. She thought she was downstairs for breakfast but her outfit says otherwise. "Is that a bruise?"
Belly sat down next to the girl. "Um, I bumped into someone."
"You bumped into someone?"
"Doesn't look that bad." Conrad said from the living room.
"Um cereal?" Jeremiah offered as he handed the girl the box of Captain Crunch and placed his hangover smoothie in front of Briella.
"Yeah hit me."
"Oh my God!" They all heard Susannah yell as she walked into the kitchen. "Belly is gonna be a debutante."
"You are?" Briella asked. She couldn't be any more happier.
"It's not that big of a deal." Belly chuckled.
"I'm sorry. Like Belly?" Steven laughed. "Like my sister? Like that thing right there?"
"Shut up cretin."
"I'm just saying you and Brie are two completely different people. Don't really think a debutante is your common ground."
"Okay this is gonna be so much fun. Just you wait. There is uh.. There's the tea, the auction, the ball, of course, the rehearsal. I got to write this down." Susannah gasped. "We need to go shopping."
"This sounds expensive." Laurel voiced her concern.
"Oh don't worry Laur. It's on me. And you too Brie."
Briella shook her head. "Don't worry Auntie Susan. Whenever dad's not home, he leaves me with his Platinum Card. I'm sure he wouldn't even notice I spent $1,000 on a dress. Or if I'm home for that matter." The girl whispered the last part because she didn't want to be a debbie downer with her daddy problems.
"Belly are you sure you want to do this? It doesn't seem very you. Brie I could understand, but you? I don't see it." Laurel asked her daughter. Belly got a little upset that everyone kept bringing up she isn't like Briella. What makes her so special that she isn't the same as her?
They both have boobs and long hair. Why is it that everyone is more accepting to the girl than her?
"It's not." Conrad said.
"Conrad could you please be a little more supportive?" Susannah said to her oldest son. "Now who wants to be Brie and Belly's escort to the ball?"
"Not me. I went last year." Conrad shook his head as he finished his smoothie.
"Yeah and I swore off balls." Jeremiah said causing some laughter from both Steven and Briella. "The dances dude."
"Wow guys. Stop fighting over me." Belly chuckled. "Um I'm not going with either of you. I am going to find my own date."
"As you should." Briella cheered on her friend as she finished the hangover smoothie which was surprisingly good.
"Wikipedia says debutante balls require instruction in morals and social etiquette." Laurel read out loud.
"I'm going for a swim." Conrad said, putting his finished cup in the sink. He left to go outside, not before brushing his shoulder toward the girl.
Briella watched his disappearing figure go outside and saw Belly doing the exact same. Except she had a better view of the boy outside.
The girl couldn't help but wonder if her friend and her liked the same boy? All her life, she had the impression Belly liked Jeremiah, but with the stares she was giving to the boy, says otherwise. Because actions speak louder than words.
