Well that was a mess.
Today was the first day at Top Gun, all of us instructed to attempt to catch the instructor in pairs.
Just my luck, I got paired with Bagman. And now I know why they call him Hangman, leaving me out to dry.
He had continued straight when he said to bank left, the instructor going after me, Bagman trying to get tone on him as the instructor was on my ass.
Safe to say, we failed.
Only one group got him, Phoenix and Bob paired with someone else I can't be bothered to remember.
Here I am once more, sitting at the Hard Deck bar, this time, drinking a beer.
I can't get the image of what happened today out of my mind, how we could have won if fucking Bagman hadn't been such an asshole.
I sighed, trying to calm down, there was nothing I could do about it now.
"Hey, what's got you down?" A voice asked, me looking up, there was Natasha, no Bob in sight, for once.
She must've come in while I was thinking.
"Just thinking about how Bagman fucked me over, when we could've caught the instructor if he hadn't left me out to dry." I muttered bitterly, scowling at the very thought of seeing Bagman's smug smirk, when I pulled away, him not following.
Natasha nodded, sitting down next to me, "You should ignore him, it's clear he only cares for himself." She shrugged, this still not satisfying me.
I just shrugged, "I know that much, but he cost me points, and it's only the first day." I ran a hand through my hair, annoyed and exhausted from today, picking up my glass and downing it, before setting it down with a bit of force.
Natasha didn't say anything, before getting the bartenders attention, "I'll take a round of what she's having-" She nudged my arm with hers, "-and I'll get another round for her."
I slightly perked up, looking up, from where I was looking at my empty glass, to Natasha. I released a sigh, before letting out a small smile, at least she cares.
The bartender was quick to get us our drinks, setting them down in front of us.
I grabbed the cold beer, bringing to my lips and talking a long gulp of it, ignoring the sting in my throat.
Once it was about halfway gone did I take it from my lips, setting it down on the bar, Natasha whistling lowly.
"Slow down there, it isn't going anywhere." Natasha chuckled, bringing her own glass to her lips and taking a sip of it.
"Well-" I looked to her, letting a bigger smile come onto my face, "-thank you, Natasha."
She took a moment to digest my words, when a warm smile came onto her face, "Don't mention it, it's nothing." She took another sip of her drink.
I looked around, before my eyes laid on a piano, my eyes widening.
I got up from my bar stool, Natasha looking at me, confused, though realized where I was going.
I pulled out the piano chair, sitting down, playing some experimental keys.
Some of the keys were out of tune, though nothing extreme and, too, noticeable.
I immediately had a song in mind, Natasha coming up next to me, a curious look on her face as I started.
"You shake my nerves and you rattle my brain-" I started to sing, not caring to much if I sounded the best, plus, the piano backed me up, making me, probably, sound better than I was, "-too much love drives a man insane!" I glanced at Natasha, her eyes having widened, though smiled playfully, catching my gaze.
"You broke my will!" I raised my voice, catching the attention of people, some others coming over to see what's going on, "But what a thrill!"
Some people joined in the song, this being a well known song among pilots.
"Goodness gracious, great balls of fire!" I sang, Natasha loosening up and joining in.
"I laughed at love 'coz I thought it was funny-" I chuckled, again, looking to Natasha, her sipping more of her drink, "-you came along and you moved me, honey." I winked, her, now, looking at me, not missing how a slight pink tint came onto her face.
"I've changed my mind!" I sang, almost exclaimed, "This love is fine, goodness gracious, great balls of fire!"
Now, almost, the whole bar was involved, some singing along, some just enjoying the music, Natasha singing along.
"Kiss me, baby!" I made eye contact with Natasha, her chuckling and shaking her head, me looking back down, quickly, to focus on where my hands were on the piano, "Ooh, it feels good, hold me baby!" I dramatically leaned towards Natasha, like I was about to fall, only to sit back up.
I paused from playing, "Well, I'm off to love you like a lover should-" I resumed, "-Oh! You're fine, so kind!"
Natasha had finished her drink, continuing to sing along.
"Imma tell this world that you're mine, mine, mine, mine!" I played the keys on the piano, hitting certain ones repeatedly as I said mine, going back into the fast tempo into the song, "I chew my nails and then I twiddle my thumbs, I'm real nervous, but it sure is fun!"
Natasha nodded along to the song, a wide smile on her face as she sang.
"Come on, baby-" I, almost, sounded like I was pleading, looking back to Natasha, "-you drive me crazy!" I made my voice change tone, almost like a voice crack.
"Goodness gracious, great balls of fire!" Almost everyone joined in on that one, me now spamming certain keys on the piano.
Natasha laughed, watching my hands as I spammed them with speed, having sung this song so much I knew how long to go.
"Well, kiss me, baby-" I, again, sounded like I was pleading, purposefully looking to Natasha once more, "-mmmmh, it feels good!" I made my voice do a sort of voice crack again.
"Hold me, baby-" I took a breath, starting to feel a bit winded, "-well, I'm off to love you like a lover should, you're fine, so kind!"
"Got to tell this world that you're mine, mine, mine, mine!" Natasha sang, me continuing to play piano, before continuing to sing with her and some of the bar.
"I chew my nails and I twiddle my thumbs, real nervous, but it sure is fun!" I was getting close to the end, about to finish with a grand finale, "Come on, baby, you're driving me crazy!"
I made one more glance at Natasha, who was still singing, before finishing the song.
"Goodness gracious, great balls of fire!"
With that, I could finally let my hands and arms rest, everyone cheering and happy, before going back to talking and drinking, me turning to Natasha.
"Now-" I chuckled, taking some deep breathes to regain what I lost, "-I feel much better."
Natasha smiled, before sitting down next to me, me slightly blushing at the close proximity. As if I couldn't get more embarrassed, she leaned her head on my shoulder.
I was shocked for a moment, before leaning my head on hers, her smelling the same as last night.
The scent was almost hypnotizing, my eyes slightly drooping.
"I wish Bob were here to celebrate with us." Natasha spoke up, me humming in agreement.
"Agreed, I would've loved to see him sing too." I chuckled lightly, before sighing, relaxing into the moment, enjoying having her on my shoulder. I couldn't help but hope she didn't hear my fast beating heart, or perhaps the rising blush, my ears hot to the touch.
"Thank you, again, Natasha." I repeated, my voice quieter, not wanting to ruin the atmosphere, enjoying feeling some of her warm skin on my own, she was much warmer than I.
I noticed her slightly smiled, before responding.
"You're welcome (Y/n)."
