"if you ever doubt how much i love you, just remember the fact that you are going to be tanning on the sunny beaches of los angeles, while i stay back and watch your dog." owen joked as she began sprinkling mozzarella cheese on one of the pizza's they were making.
lola let out a short laugh but rolled her eyes, "i told you many times, you can come with. my friends already love you, and i definitely wouldn't mind having someone else staying in the hotel with me."
owen smiled and shook their head. "nah, maybe in the summer, but i think for now you should reunite on your own." they shrugged their shoulders and wiped their hands, before putting the pizza into the oven.
"that's really considerate of you, owen." lola gave her a sweet smile before grabbing a can of sprite out of the fridge.
"can i ask you a question?"
lola raised her eyebrows. owen's questions usually weren't very...thought through. she didn't have any type of filter, and her mouth worked quicker than her mind. so, lola knew that if owen was asking before questioning her, that the question would most likely make her uncomfortable.
lola shrugged, "uh, yeah, sure."
"why are you so nervous about going back to california? i mean, i know why...but i'm not sure if you're self aware."
lola gave owen a glare, only being half playful, before making her way over to the couch. owen kept rambling, "babe, i'm serious! like, we both know you're scared to see him, and we both know that it may explode in your face if you don't figure out your feelings before you see him, especially if his girlfriend is there. i don't want you to sabotage yourself, like a...like a dereliction!"
lola gave owen a puzzled look as they sat down next to her, "dereliction? i swear you randomly gain the largest vocabulary sometimes."
this time owen was the one to shrug, "yeah, you know, like being left alone. that's what's gonna happen if you go into this with the wrong attitude, a planned dereliction."
"okay, i get where you're coming from. but, i dunno, i just feel like there's not much to talk about." lola sighed before sipping on her sprite.
"you're most likely gonna see your ex boyfriend and his current girlfriend, you don't feel any type of way about that?" owen raised her eyebrows at the brown girl, not taking no for an answer.
owen may be delirious and nonsensical most of the time, but she's smart enough to know that lola still has some sort of feelings for vinnie. she'd seen lola cry at random times and even lose appetite over this boy, there's absolutely no way in hell she doesn't feel any type of way about meeting him again.
