With no hesitation, Blue nodded her head and murmured a short 'yes'. Sudden images and memories of her past encounters with Kibutsuji sent chills down her spine. She remembers the pain, the agony, the fear, the death... and the blood. The blood of her deceased family members as they lay lifeless in front of her. She shook the thoughts away as she squeezed her eyes shut.
'Don't think about it, Blue' She thought. 'Remember, mama would scold you if she knew you were thinking about things like that.' Blue forces herself to remove any negative thoughts and to only focus on the master's voice.
"In the letter, Giyuu mentioned he hoped that Blue and Nezuko Kamado were to meet one another and hopefully form a bond." The air within the area was tense and still as the group awaited the master's next words. "Personally, I believe it's a great idea. If Blue and Nezuko could form a bond and even possibly fight alongside one another, the Demon Slayer Corps could become more and more likely to succeed in this war."
"By having not one, but two demons on our side, it could open up our eyes to knowledge about the demons that we were blind to before as well as encourage others to continue fighting knowing that two demons have escaped the clutches of Kibutsuji and are willing to fight back against him."
"However, this can only happen if Blue and Nezuko cope with each other. And personally, I would like to see how far this will go." The master looks down in Blue's direction. "That is if you are okay with this, Blue. I do not want to force you into something you don't feel comfortable or disagree with."
Blue addmired how kind and understanding the master was being with her. It made her feel relaxed and less worrisome. But now she had to really think about his question. It was true that if she and this demon girl named Nezuko were to form some sort of partnership with each other, they could fight against Kibutsuji and his demons. To Kibutsuji, knowing that two of his demon victims had fallen out of his grasp and were fighting beside the Demon Slayer Corp, it would be like a slap across the face. But in this case, this slap would burn. And sting. And tingle in the most agonizing way possible.
Blue found that slightly amusing. For the past ten years, she's been trying to find some way to get revenge on that man for stealing her life, her humanity, her family, and her village. Now, she believes she found the right course towards getting what it was she desired.
"I am willing to meet Nezuko and form an alliance with her and the Demon Slayer Corps." Blue said with full confidence as she looked the master deep in his eyes. The master smiles down at her once again. "Excellent." He says with a slight cheer in his voice. "I will let Tranjiro know of the news and we will plan an appropriate date for you and Nezuko to meet."
"Forgive my interruption, master. But I will have to abject this!" After what seemed like forever, the red-headed man spoke up. 'Finally, someone said it.' Kocho thought as it's been awhile since any of the hashira have spoken and their minds were running at a thousands miles per hour.
Everyone except for the little boy who was, again, completely zoned out. "I agree with Renguko." Uzui chimed in. "I do as well. We should just kill this poor creature to rest." The man with the scar on his forehead spoke through tears. 'What does he mean by poor creature?' Blue thought. "Breaking the rules to have a demon travel with a demon slayer is one thing but having two demons. It seems quite unflashy and we don't know her like we know the Kamado girl." Uzui explains.
"Uzui does have a point, master." Kocho agreed. Meanwhile, the pink and green haired girl smiles and claps her hands together. "I have no objections! I will do as you wish, master!" She said cheerfully. 'She really gave in that easily?' Blue questioned before struggling ever so slightly.
"Master, how do we know she isn't going to turn her back against us?" Shinazugawa asked and Blue cringed. "For all we know, she could be pulling some sort of act and I am not falling for it one bit." The Serpent Pillar, who went by Iguro, spoke in a low voice as his eyes pierced Blue's back. Both Shinazugawa's question and Iguro's statement were like stabs in the heart. If anything she felt offended. 'Did you literally not hear what he just said about me?' is what she wanted to say, still she resisted the urge to be more of a smart mouth then what she was already known for.
"I understand your concerns. Yes, we don't know much about her but I am entrusting you all to earn her trust as well as getting to know her. I know it may be difficult to accept these changes but understand, these types of changes are what will allow us to grow stronger as a whole." Said the master. Despite his words, the hashira weren't having any of it.
"Who cares if that's how it has to be." Shinazugawa said, the frustration rising within his chest. "There have to be other ways to win against Kibutsuji! Fighting alongside two demons when the corps is dedicated to killing every last one of them is absurd!" His voice grew louder and more aggressive.
"Shinazugawa is right!" Rengoku added. "You have my utmost respect, I cannot see the Demon Slayer Corps ever siding with demons!" Blue rolled her eyes in annoyance. She remembered coming here to meet the demon girl, not being interrogated and horribly misjudged.
"My children," The master began. "Believe me when I say I understand why you are worried. But I must ask you all this, how badly do you want to defeat that man and bring peace to all?"
The question left the hashira silent. Even Shinazugawa, who seemed to already hate Blue's gutes, was quiet. Blue was amazed. All it took was one simple yet genuine question and they shut themselves up. Blue wished she could do something like that. It would make her life ten times easier.
Blue must have thought the hashira were affected pretty badly because they stayed silent for a good solid minute. The hashira all had the same goal in defeating Kibutsuji and some even wished that they didn't have to fight for a living. So when the master asked his question, it affected the pillars pretty hard.
"What I said was that Blue and Nezuko would be fighting alongside us if they were to come to terms with one another. I never said that we were forming an alliance with more than those two girls." The master said. "I do not want to force you all to come to terms with this decision but I have to, I will see to it that the meeting between Blue and Nezuko happens whether or not you agree with it." The master said gently.
'Well damn.'
Yet again, the courtyard was quiet. This master seemed very dedicated to going through with the original plan. He was determined, Blue would give him that. Incredibly, she found herself taking a huge liking to his man.
"Very well then." Kocho finally broke the silence. "I don't see why it isn't such a bad idea." Kanroji nodded in agreement. "It doesn't bother me. I'll just forget anyway." The little boy spoke in a smooth voice. He almost sounded bored. Uzui tilted his head towards Rengoku with a raised eyebrow while Rengoku just shrugged his shoulders. Iguro narrowed his eyes at Blue's back. "I won't believe it." He murmured. "I will push past the fact of her being a half-breed and give her a chance." Himejima said through tears. Meanwhile, Giyuu just sat there yet the master knew that he had already accepted Blue and was already willing to go through with the plan.
Blue felt a sense of pride in her chest as she was refused to a half-breed. 'Maybe they really aren't that all bad." She thought. "I'm sorry, master." The Hashira turned their heads to Shinazugawa. "But I just can't bring myself to agree with your decision."
'Nope! Nevermind!'
In a slip second, Shinazugawa stood up and reached for his sword. "Master, please forgive me once again for my actions." He held the sharp blade against the skin of his arm and sliced it open. The air around Blue was now filled with a hot, irony scent that caused her heart to drop into her.
It was his blood.
