October 1944, Hogwarts
„What about Rebecca?" Lestrange asked in thoughts and looked around. „What about her?" Tom asked now a bit tensed. „Why don't let her join us?" he elaborated and grew a bit concerned as he realized that bringing Rebecca into this conversation might haven't been the best idea. „She already did. Theoretically." Tom said and clasped his hands together.
Well he wasn't wrong. Rebecca helped him to make decisions amd plans for his work. Gave him advice, her opinion on different things. But actually joining? He hadn't thought about it. Although she was skilled in the dark arts. Thanks to her interest, fast learning and family. Maybe she wouldn't be a bad member.
„Really?" Walburga asked confused. Ofcourse she didn't knew any of that. „Not officially. But that can be changed. I'll take care of it."
And he did. Two hours later he asked Rebecca to walk around the lake. Ofcourse she said yes.
„I have a question for you." he began and turned his head to look at her. She nodded. Signaling him that she was listening. „You know that I have those meetings from time to time where I ask you for advice and opinions?" she nodded again. „What about it?" he smiled faintly. „I've been thinking. Someone suggested for you to join. Officially. And I don't think that's a bad idea. What do you say?" she gulped a bit.
It wouldn't make a big difference. She knew everything and even got to make decisions. So nothing would change, right?
„When you say join, what do you mean by that?" she asked carefully and looked at the lake. „I mean-" he grabbed her shoulders and turned her to face him. „that you would be officially a part of it. You're more skilled than they are, you know more informations than any other and also would it be a great relief for me if you'd join." he explained and let go of her shoulders. „Why's that?" she asked slightly smiling. „You're the one person that I can endure. Those meetings can be really draining and when you'd be there it might bring me in a lighter mood than usually." he explained.
Although his words were really sweet, they meant nothing. But she smiled. Appreciated his gesture.
„Okay. I say yes." the corner of his mouth twitched as she said it. Obviously not out of joy but out of pleasure that he got her to do what he wanted. He got her to join. Like he set his mind to it. „I'm glad." he said before he continued to walk.
