A Stack of Toast

The first thing Harry noticed when he woke up was that he could see.

While not a huge shock to most people, Harry's glasses were, in fact, not on his face, lying inches away from him on his bedside table with the innocence of a young schoolgirl.

When he sat up with a noticeable spring, he noticed that he had a lot of energy, so his rest must have been more than satisfactory.

Harry looked around and confirmed to himself that he was in the Gryffindor boys' dormitory. Of course, Ron's snoring had been a huge clue as to where he was, but he needed to be sure. He could have sworn that even with his glasses, his vision had never been better. A thank you to Dobby would definitely have to be in order.

The snoring stopped and Harry sighed as he realised what that meant as he slowly drew his curtains back to be met with the accusatory face of Ronald Weasley.

"So, you're awake, mate." Ron's voice was filled with envy. "How'd you do it?"

"Well, I just opened my eyes and sat up." Harry shrugged.

"That's not what I meant! How did you get your name in the cup?" He exclaimed. Harry noticed the other three boys had also awoken and were listening attentively. Neville Longbottom appeared to want to say something, only to reconsider quickly and hold his tongue.

"You'd have to ask the person that did it, because I have no clue." He answered, standing up and going to brush his teeth.

"Look, mate. You can tell me. I'm your best friend." Ron placated, his voice deceptively calm.

"I just told you." Harry's reply was muffled by the toothpaste in his mouth. 'I swear there was a charm for this- oh, yeah, Pencillo.' He remembered as he brought out his wand. Instantly, his toothbrush shot above his mouth and began to brush his nose for him. He quickly redirected it back into his mouth. 'Did I just do that without saying anything? Wicked.'

"Fine. It would have been nice to at least enter together." Ron, feeling betrayed, turned over in his covers and began to go back to sleep.

"We have Charms in fifteen minutes." Harry said dryly as he took his wand from his bedside table. Ron hastily jumped out of bed and the Chosen One gave a dry chuckle at his rushed actions. "You wanna walk to class together?" He asked.

"Piss off." Ron said venomously as he stalked out of the common room.

"I lied, we still have breakfast for another hour." Harry admitted to the rest of the dorm room. Seamus Finnegan, a short irish boy with pyromaniacal tendencies and Dean Thomas, a tall boy of african descent, both laughed at this twist and even Neville chuckled a bit. Neville was a lot shyer than his dorm mates.

Alas, Harry wasn't in the mood to talk to anyone who didn't believe him, so he simply left after revealing that information, leaving the other boys to their own devices. While breakfast was indeed available, he had woken up quite late and there wasn't much time left, so he moved through the common room in a hurry, leaping over a couch and through the portrait hole a few steps later, waving to the Fat Lady as he passed.

The walk from the Gryffindor common room to the Great Hall was much more pleasurable than its reverse the previous night. While people still stared at him, Harry simply took it in stride as he was completely done with letting their gormless expressions affect him. He decided to follow Snape's expectations and bask in the attention he was being given.

"You're a cheat, Potter!" A fifth-year Hufflepuff girl pointed at him accusingly.

"Nice to see you too." He winked at her and she was so surprised that she actually blushed. He continued on his way, not bothered in the slightest.
