You did your daily ritual— getting dressed, brushing your teeth, and walking to school. You still had a few snacks from yesterday, so you would finish those off and go buy some more tomorrow.
You thought about Robin. How he walked you home last night, how worried he actually looked. Why the hell was he acting like he cared now? All those years of him humiliating you in front of the whole school, just for him to act like he cared about you? Robin was Robin. He probably only walked with you because he was dared to, right?
You convinced yourself that nothing happened. It was just a simple walk home, you barely even spoke a word to each other the whole way.
You slouched in your chair, your thoughts blocking out the teacher's voice. All the students in your class seemed to do the same, their heads were down or they were just covering their ears— zoning out.
Robin was in this class, he sat on the opposite side of the classroom but you could still see him clearly. He looked bored out of his mind.
"Okay! I'm going to start listing the pairs out!" The teacher announced, walking to the front of the class with a clipboard in hand.
The teacher's words snapped you out of your thoughts. Pairs? What pairs?
"The first pair is Grace and Elijah." She continued to list off all of the pairs, saving the worst for last. "Last but not least, Robin and Y/N. You guys can move now."
Your eyes widened. You didn't even know what you were supposed to do, and you were partnered up with Robin? The one person you've been thinking about all day? You knew he wasn't listening, there was no way you guys were going to get a good grade on this.
You hesitantly got up, trudging your way over to Robin's desk. You sat down slowly next to him, an annoyed look on your face.
"Hey, 𝙝𝙚𝙧𝙢𝙤𝙨𝙖. Looks like we're partners, huh?" He stated, a smirk appearing on his lips.
Robin and his fucking smirk. You wanted to wipe it off with a slap, but you knew that would only end with you having weeks of detention. Possibly suspension.
"Yup." You quipped, looking straight forward. The teacher walked around the classroom, handing out papers to each pair. When the paper finally lands on your desk, you snatch it, your eyes scanning the paper as you read it.
"What?" You shrieked, your eyes not believing what they just read. Robin shot you an unamused glare, looking around to make sure you didn't bring attention to yourself.
"It's so much better when you're quiet." He grabs the paper from you, reading it.
"I can't be with you! We have to switch partners. What if you get Dustin and I'll get Valerie? How's that?" You rambled, immediately raising your hand to get the teachers attention.
"Wha—no!" He whisper-shouts, grabbing your arm to put it down. He holds it on the desk, stopping you from moving it. You raise your other arm, waving it frantically to hopefully get the teachers attention. Robin grabs your other arm, placing it next to your arm that was on the table, holding them down.
"We can't switch. Did you not pay attention in class? She said these pairs are final, if you ask to switch you're just gonna make a fool out of yourself." He huffs, letting go of your arms.
"Wow, you pay attention in class?" You say, wiping off Robin's touch on your pants. It was immature, but you didn't want to get anymore thoughts about him.
He glanced at your arms that were just freshly wiped against your pants, frowning.
You notice this, you almost felt bad. But then his signature smirk appeared on his lips, his frown long gone. "I do, unlike you over there." He looks at your desk. "You just can't keep your eyes off me, can't ya?"
Your cheeks heated up, full of embarrassment. He saw you staring at him. Did he think you were a creep? Weirdo? Why should it even matter what he thought about you, you didn't like him and he didn't like you.
"N-no! I was looking at... Mike." You lied, looking away to hide your red cheeks.
"Mike?" He questioned, chuckling. "Yeah, right. He wouldn't want you anyway, have you looked in the mirror recently?"
Why was this boy so complicated? One moment he's flirting with you, the next he's worried about you, and now he's back to hating on you?
You try your best to look good at school. At least presentable. Robin doesn't really point out your flaws, but hearing him say that really hit a nerve. Who was he to talk like that? He's worn that dumb bandana almost everyday, he probably doesn't even wash it.
You didn't say anything though. Instead, you acted like he wasn't there and asked the teacher to go to the bathroom. You swore if you didn't leave the classroom you would've slapped him so hard he would've forgotten what he said.
If only you could forget.
