--------------------------------That night you had the most amazing dream. You found yourself at the beach, one of your favourite places. It was sunny but the perfect temperature, with seagulls flying above and dolphins playing in the ocean far off in the distance. The golden sand was warm under your bare feet. You began walking along the shoreline, feeling the cold water lapping against your ankles. There was no sound except for the noise of the ocean, which calmed you. Soon you came across a bamboo reed gazebo with a wooden table beneath it, all of your favourite foods and drinks spread out on top of it. A radio sat on one of the benches, playing your favourite song. Everything about this was perfect. Except how alone you felt. You had nobody to play in the waves with, to talk to. It was nice having quiet, but it seemed almost desolate. Who did you wish was here with you? Bill Cipher, you heard your dream self say.
You jolted upright in bed, torn away from your beautiful dream and snapped quickly into reality, the darkness of your bedroom. Had you forgotten to open your window? Sleepily you stretched your arms in the air and swung your legs over the side of the bed, yawning. You opened your window curtains so the sunlight filtered in. It was a nice-looking day outside. Then again almost all summer days in Gravity Falls had pretty good weather.
You got dressed in black jeans and a f/c t-shirt, messily braiding your h/c hair so it draped over your right shoulder. You hummed to yourself as you brushed your teeth, you were in a strangely good mood. And then you went out into the kitchen and that good mood ended.
Bill sat at the table, head in his hands. As soon as he heard you come in he lifted his gaze to stare at you, as if awaiting your first move. All that confusion and worry crashed back upon you and you tried to act calm. You walked over to the fridge and began pulling ingredients out to make pancakes. As you began to cook you couldn't bear the uncomfortable silence so you said quietly, "thanks for the dream."
"No problem," Bill replied, voice even softer than yours. You glanced at him once, seeing his sad expression, and felt a pang of sadness yourself. He didn't look good not smiling. "If you think that fixes anything you're wrong," you added, and sat down with two plates of pancakes, shoving one of them towards him. He ate them awkwardly, with his hands, still unable to completely grasp how to eat human food. You cleared your throat. "I have to go to work today," you said in normal volume, continuing to pretend your heart wasn't beating as fast as it actually was, "I want you to come with me. I don't trust you in my house alone anymore." Bill nodded and kept staring you straight in the eyes. You felt yourself go red and stood, plate clanging as you picked it up. "Stop staring at me like that," you excalimed, going over to drop your dishes in the sink. You caught a glimpse of Bill smirking and your heart skipped a beat. That smile was amazing.
The two of you walked silently to the Mystery Shack. Wendy greeted you when you entered and you whispered an explanation as to why Bill was with you. She nodded and winked, pulling up a wooden chair for Bill to sit on so you could see him at all times. Which made you feel more self-concious than "safe knowing he won't get into trouble," as Wendy had put it. You spent almost two hours silemtly filling out paperwork and such before Mabel came out of nowhere and nearly knocked you over in a hug. "Y/n!" She exclaimed, "Dipper and I are going with Soos to the boardwalk-carnival thingy! Wanna come?"
"Boardwalk-carnival-thingy?" You repeated, confused. Wendy chuckled. "Every summer, near the end of summer, Gravity Falls has its carnival thing at the boardwalk to celebrate. I'm going, so is Tamry," she explained, "hey, Mabel, isn't Dipper too injured to go? I thought he was in the hospital or something..."
"Nah, he's fine," Mabel said, waving her hands around, "some outdoor stuff will do him good! We've been feeding him a ton of food and he's done nothing but sleep." You nodded and agreed to go with them, only if Dipper didn't go. "I don't want him to get worse than he already is," you said and an agreement was made. You would go with them only if Bill could come, since you didn't want to worry about him at home, and Dipper rested back at the Mystery Shack. "When is it?" You asked. Mabel gave you another side hug, yelling, "tonight!"
"I gotta go home and get ready then," you smiled and grabbed your bag. You waved to Wendy and Mabel and left, Bill right behind you. You were actually really excited for this. Just a normal evening with friends. Hopefully.
