a/n kind of just a filler chapter, next chapter is a long one though :)
The next morning Odin woke up tangled up in Dexter's embrace. It was 5am, the usual time he woke up. He wiggled his way out of Dexter's arms, earning some unpleasant whines from the older, still sound asleep.
Like usual Odin made his way to the breakfast hall. His mind was full of thoughts about the prince. There was no denying the fact he had completely fallen for him, though granted that was probably very obvious by now. He really wanted for their relationship to be official but he was determined he would leave that for Dexter, no matter how shy he was. In honesty he still couldn't believe the prince had taken so much interest in him. He wasn't anything special, not in his eyes anyway. Though Odin seemed rather confident deep down he was pretty insecure. He grew up in a somewhat poor family, His mother was a hard worker. She worked hard for every penny she earned. His Dad passed away a little over 2 years ago, He suffered a severe stroke and never really recovered. Odin had a few friends growing up but none really stuck around into adulthood, All leaving him for some ridiculous reason they managed to come up with. Probably the start of Odin's insecurities.
Before he knew it he had arrived at the breakfast hall, being so lost in thought he hadn't even realised he had arrived. He did his usual and sat next to William, gossiping about the prior days' adventures. Odin and William were both lost in conversation when everyone around them turned heads. Both were confused at first but once Odin saw why it made sense. Of course Dexter would decide to walk into the staff breakfast hall at 5 in the morning. Of course he would walk in when Odin still looked a mess and still had his stolen clothes on. Dexter walked over to where Odin and William were sitting standing behind Odin looking down at him. Odin looked up making eye contact with him.
''What?'' He questioned casually
''I dunno I was bored''
Odin rolled his eyes and went back to eating his breakfast, scooting up the bench so Dexter could sit next to him.
''Why are you up so early?''
''I was cold'' Dexter said leaning against Odin
William wasn't confused but he was shocked. It wasn't everyday the Prince sat at your table never mind be so casual with your best friend.
''You must be William'' Dexter said smiling at the boy, Still leaning on Odin
''Yes, Nice to meet you. Your Highness'' He bowed
''No need to be so formal, It's far too early for that'' he joked
Dexter stayed quiet for the most part. He stayed leaning against Odin and just listened into him and Williams' conversation, occasionally adding a comment. He was still half asleep. He just wanted to be with Odin. It didn't take Odin long to notice Dexter's tiredness however.
''Dexter, if you're tired go back to bed''
Dexter just shook his head in response, too tired to bother talking.
Odin sighed and quickly finished up his breakfast, Unsure of what to do next considering Dexter was already awake.
''Uh-''
''Hmm?'' Dexter hummed in response
''What am I meant to do now? You're already awake''
''Come back to bed''
''Fine-''
Odin reluctantly walked back with Dexter back to the bedroom, Dexter dragging behind him still half asleep. Once they arrived in the bedroom Dexter flopped back on the bed and got himself comfortable gesturing for Odin to come back. Of course Odin didn't hesitate and got into bed next to him.
''You don't need to get up so early if you don't want to anymore'' Dexter stated somewhat out of the blue
''That would be nice, but when would I eat? Breakfast is over by the time you wake up''
''Don't worry about that, I'll make sure you get food''
''Hah thank you''
''Your welcome'' Dexter said, placing a soft kiss on the younger's head.
The two fell asleep for a few more hours and went on with their day as usual. Dexter attended to his duties and Odin helped him out when needed. They followed the same routine for weeks. They would fall asleep together every night and wake up the same way each morning. Growing closer with each passing day. Dexter knew he was absolutely head over heels for Odin at this point, Still too shy to admit that though. He still hadn't asked him to be his boyfriend even though they for the most part acted like a couple and would never dream of being with someone else. Odin was much the same as Dexter, His feelings for the prince were undeniable, though he was still determined he wouldn't ask Dexter to be his boyfriend. That was Dexter's job, and a job Dexter desperately wanted to fulfil, however too fearful of his fathers reaction to do so. Dexter's father Robert had been growing frustrated with his son, In his eyes he was becoming too 'casual' with his peers, among other things like leaving palace grounds at least once a week. That was no good for a future king apparently. It was only a matter of time until he finally spoke to Dexter about it and put him back in his place. There's no place for messing around in the royal family, he was not going to put up with it any longer.
