Simba x reader

Simba turned to you, his eyes with hope "(Y/N), gather the best trackers you know and find the leader of the elephants. The only hope for us is if the matriarch agrees to share what they found with the others." You nod and rush down the rocks, finding Kasi among the crowd near the bottom "You know your pride sisters better than I do, we need the best tracker among us," You explain. Kasi tilts her head, letting out a small "Why?" You smile in response "I'll explain on the way, just find them and meet me by the acacia tree." Without another word you scamper off.

It wasn't long before the patrol was assembled and you set out to find the elephant herd. Harufu, a nearly pure white lioness, led the way. The trumpets of the elephants were hard to miss, and the smell of fresh water set the fur along your spine standing up. Almost on instinct a growl slipped from your throat, and it took a heavy deal of concentration to settle your aggression. Kasi met your side "What's wrong?" she asked. You forced a smile "Sorry, its just an old habit from my old pride. Back then we had to fight for everything, even water." She nodded and went ahead to scout. The elephant herd were gathered around a watering hole, carefully skimming the waters surface as to not stir up dirt.

A trumpet sounded as a young bull noticed your presence "Mama, look! There are lionesses here!" The bulls mother, an ancient elephant, turned to face you and your patrol. You knew better than to disrespect an elephant and dipped your head politely in greeting. The cow approached, her footsteps thundering "What are you seeking, agents of the king?" she asked. You lifted your head, stepping up to meet her gaze "The pride lands are in desperate need of your wisdom, elephants. You have the keenest sense of smell on the savannah, and you hold the key to finding water. The watering hole has dried up and the aquatic animals refuse to give any more in this trying time. Please, we ask for your help, share your skills and finding with the herds or they will surely perish." She narrows her gaze at you "Why should we sacrifice the fruits of our labor only to keep you fed? If you didnt live off their meat what would be stopping you from leaving them to die?" She asked. You thought for a moment "We know as well as anyone that all creatures deserve respect and a chance at life. Even in this trying time when we could easily let them weaken to let ourselves feast king Simba recognizes the balance that must be maintained. We lions have been risking our own lives to protect the herds for the hyenas, who refute this balance and wish only to fill their bellies," You respond, trying to keep your voice steady in the face of the huge creatures opposition. You notice a hint of anger in her gaze and add "Us lions have not acted hungrily, we have taken to scavenging the fallen and grubs to sustain ourselves."

This seemed to get the elephants attention "Give me your word that King Simba will bring about a golden age for the pride lands, just as his father did before. Scar had too many souls in one place, they consumed all the water and ate all of our neighbors, promise me that Simba will not be the same." You paused "I cannot promise he can fix every problem, but I can assure you that he is trying his best to be a great king," You dipped your head as you spoke. The elephant looked to her herd "Very well then, I will reward your honesty and share what we find with our neighbors."
