Spencer stared sadly at the couple in front of him. He couldn't begin to imagine the pain that they had gone through every day for the last three or so years.

"Mr and Mrs Alcott, shall we talk in my office?" Hotch asked professionally.

"No." Mrs Alcott said firmly, "I am done with being shuffled from office to office, having your sincerest condolences passed onto us. I am not listening to one more police officer, private investigator or any member of law enforcement tell us that we just have to keep waiting and that you are doing all you can to find our daughter. Because let me tell you, Agent..." She paused watching for Hotch to fill in the gap.

"Hotchner."

"Let me tell you Agent Hotchner, that is the first time in one thousand two hundred and eighty two days that I have heard my daughter's voice and this is the first decent lead in the same length of time and I am not going to be pushed aside into another small room as you reel off the script that you are given in these circumstances. You do whatever it is with that tape that you need to do and we will give you whatever it is that you need from us. If you want to delve into our lives, every movement, every conversation from the past three years then we give you our unwavering consent. Just bring our little girl home. Please."

A heavy silence hung in the air. Nobody wanted to be the first to speak; there was a collective, silent acknowledgement that there should be an almost compulsory moment of silence for the years that they had lost with their daughter, for the girl that had gone missing and for the changed woman that was [hopefully] going to return home.

"Very well. However, you must understand that I cannot disclose much, if any, specific information about the case -"

"Not only do I understand, Agent Hotchner, I do not want to know." Mrs Alcott interrupted.

"Why wouldn't you want to know about the man who potentially has your daughter?" Morgan asked suspiciously. He was suspicious of everyone, and sometimes, although he would never admit it, Spencer pitied him for it. Morgan always looked for the worst in people; he always assumed everyone was out to get him or they always had ulterior motives. Spencer could always see the good in the world and the good in humanity [despite his job], he just felt he didn't deserve to experience any of it for himself.

"Oh I do. But knowing the intimate details of his crimes and whether or not he has raped and tortured my daughter and/or other women, will not bring her home." Morgan had no response to that.
