Dabi/ Touya Todoroki
"Why did I have to sign up for a time to see you?" Natsuo grumbled, walking into Dabi's office. Dabi was drowning under paperwork and Akane was trying her best to help, despite being on bed rest. She suffered migraines from the fusing of her demon and human self. Along with being tired all the time. Daki and Akaza tried their best to help find all the demons that were rebelling. The Demon Slayers were helping too. Dabi looked up.
"Well, I am busy," Dabi replied. He stood and put a folder on top of the 'done' stack. Rei sat down in the chair in front of her son's desk. Natsuo leaned against Dabi's desk with his arms crossed.
"Why isn't Akane helping you?"
"She's still dealing with the effects of fusing. And pushing herself too hard."
"Touya?" Akane asked, poking her head into the room. She looked exhausted still. "I finished the treaty stuff with Daki. Where do you want me to put it?" Dabi sighed and took the ten folders from her.
"You should be resting."
"I want to help!" She looked over her shoulder to see Natsuo and Rei. "Hi, Natsu, hi, Rei." Dabi opened the door for her to come in.
"You going to come in or what?" Akane sighed and followed Dabi over to his desk. When she thought he wasn't looking, she stole another folder. "Ane, put that back." Akane frowned and put it back, making Natsuo and Rei laugh.
"How are you two settling into royalty?" Rei asked as Akane sat in Dabi's seat. "Anything I can help with?"
"We're still getting used to it."
"It's been like four months," Natsuo said. "When will you not be busy?" Dabi laughed.
"Soon. Ane'll get better by June and we'll have all summer before you go back to school." Natsuo looked to Akane to confirm. Akane nodded with a smile.
"Sorry I took your brother for so long," Akane said. She scratched the back of her neck. "I told him he'd get the whole summer off and Akaza would handle his duties."
"Yeah, and I still object," Dabi said.
"You deserve to hang out with Natsu! You've been working for almost five months now. And you had to do double since I was out."
"Fine."

June came quickly and Dabi was kicked out of the office the minute Akane was better. Dabi wore a simple black shirt and jeans. Because his demon and human selves fused, he still had his black wings. So that's fun. Makes everyone recognize him as the Demon King.
"So you're not going to comment on my new look?" Dabi asked Natsuo as they walked into the mall.
"What's there to comment about?" Natsuo asked. "You still have black hair, you've got one blue eye and the other's grey. On top of that, you've got this huge set of black wings. And the scars are back."
"And I got my quirk back, that's why."
"Oh."
"Shoto's helping me train the ice part."
"Oh cool!" Then the realization came to Natsuo. "Wait, what?" This made Dabi laugh.
"Yeah, we figured out that my quirk's like his except hotter and colder."
"You're not angry?"
"No. I'm thankful, in a way. If my ice had appeared earlier, you guys might not have been born and training would have been worse."
"That still doesn't explain the reason you have your scars."
"I asked Eri if she could give them back to me. My body temperature is normal as it is for every human or demon."
"Ah." Natsuo looked around. "Where do you want to go first?" Dabi shuffled his feet. "What's wrong?"
"I uh was thinking of proposing to Ane." Dabi looked over at Natsuo. "Do you think I should?"
"Oh my god, FINALLY!" Natsuo threw his arms up into the air. "You have no idea how long I waited for you to say that!" Dabi smiled as Natsuo grabbed his hand. "Let's go!" Three hours later of ring shopping, they were still searching for a ring.
"Sorry, I'm so picky."
"No sweat. It's your girlfriend. You've known her since well forever. I knew when we started shopping, it'd take forever."
"Thanks for understanding."
"Oh, I called the Hashira to help too." Dabi laughed. "You don't mind?"
"We're going to need all the help we can get." Another four hours later, Dabi found the winner. "How about this one?"
"Ooo!" Mitsuri exclaimed. "Yes! Get that one!" Dabi looked down at the ring. It was silver with a pale blue gem in the center. He paid and checked his phone. There were a ton of missed calls from Akane.
"I gotta go! I missed Ane's calls."
"May you rest in peace," Obanai said.
"More like pieces," Giyu corrected.
"Thanks," Dabi said, sarcastically, opening his wings. "Just what I needed."
"Don't worry," Shinobu said. "Akane is just worried. Just tell her you turned off your notifications." Dabi nodded and waved before flying back to their home. He opened the door and was tackled with a hug.
"Have you any idea how worried I was?!" Akane exclaimed, looking up at him. Her eyes were watery. Dabi's heart sank as he wrapped her in his arms.
"I'm fine," Dabi whispered. "I promise. I just turned my phone off. I'm sorry." He rocked them gently. Akane mumbled something that Dabi didn't catch. "What?"
"I thought he came back and killed you..." Dabi's eyes welled up with tears.
"No, he didn't, he's gone. I promise I'm safe." Akane pulled away from him a little so she could look up at him.

"Touya?" Akane asked, nervously. She reached a hand out to where she thought Dabi was. He'd blindfolded her and taken her outside. Then, left and she had no idea where he was. A hand touched hers.
"I'm right here," Dabi replied. "Sorry." She felt him kiss her forehead. "I'm going to take it off now, kay?" He stepped behind her and the blindfold fell away. Akane blinked, trying to let her eyes adjust to the bright sunlight. When her eyes adjusted, she found herself on Seko Peak. To be more specific, the place she found Dabi after the fire.
"I...what are we doing here?" She looked behind her to find Dabi staring at her.
"This was the spot where you dropped everything to help me. You could have left me to die, gone on with your life like I was never in it like I thought my family did. But. You didn't. You came back. You helped me recover and did so much for me. Even though you couldn't return to your family. The fight we had two years ago, I regret. That was the only time we ever had a real fight. And I regret not telling you that I had joined the League. When you left, I lost my mind. You were the only thing keeping me together. I didn't realize it back then but I do now." Akane smiled as tears welled up. "I loved you back then. And I know that I did the day you stapled me back together. I'm sorry it took me so long to realize." He gently caressed her cheek and wiped away a tear. "But I want to take the next step..." He pulled away and took a ring box out of his pocket then got down on one knee. "Akane, the light of my life, will you marry me?" Tears flowed down her cheeks and it took Akane a couple of seconds to gather herself.
"Yes, yes, a million times yes." Dabi stood and pulled her close. Akane watched him slide the ring onto her finger before pulling her into a kiss. It was gentle, and loving, and sweet, so, so sweet. Dabi pulled away to wipe away her tears. "I love you."
"I love you too, body and mind." Akane giggled and cuddled against him. Dabi wrapped his arms tighter around her. She could feel his breath on her hair. Akane loved him more than anything. She'd drop everything to help a million times. If time made her pick again, she'd staple him back together. She'd do it again and again till the end of time if she had to pick.
