KESANI CRACKED THE KNUCKLESon his fingers watching Mr. Santiago angrily trash his room in search for money. Specifically, money that was not there.
"I'm telling you I don't got none..." Kesani mumbled, popping the last knuckle he could.
"You lyin'!" Brian shouted grabbing Kesani's sneaker from the floor beside him. "I know you getting money. You thought you was slick walking in here with them new headphones like nobody would notice?"
"I stole those." Kesani explained truthfully.
The man only ignored his statement proceeding to shake the shoe out, groaning when nothing came out of it.
"You think I'm dumb." Brian argued as he launched the black air force Kesani's way, not falling to strike the boy right in his chest with it.
"Ow..." Kesani mumbled slowly put his hand on the spot that just got hit.
"I know that bitch be giving you cash. You can't just give me twenty? After all we do for your ass, you holding out on twenty?" Brian fumed walking closer to Kesani.
The teen watched the man get in his face keeping his expression blank.
"If I had twenty, I would give you twenty." He told genuinely.
After that it went quiet between them... meaning the game was starting.
It was something like a mix of the quiet game and a staring competition.
Speaking would be disrespect and breaking eye contact would show weakness - both giving the other the opportunity to attack. You play the game by not doing those things and you win by not getting attacked.
Kesani wasn't a fan of being attacked so he usually played the game well.
The two stared at each other in silence with tension building. Even under the pressure Kesani never moved his eyes from Brian's. Not even for a second to blink.
All he could hear was his heart beating loudly in his ears repeatedly till the older man spoke.
Brian snarled his lip up before mumbling something small. "Don't play like you give a fuck."
Kesani just stared back at him, calmly standing his ground and doing a prayer that this would escalate no further tonight since he sadly did give a fuck.
