A week later...Gilbert collapsed on to the sofa wearily, followed by the honey coloured boy beside him. His lessons had finally begun, and as fascinating and thought provoking as it was, they proved much more exhausting than any of them were expecting.
Wilson, who was wearily leaning over a chair, groaned."I don't know how we're going to get through a whole week of this..."
"And then it starts all over again...I think I might just enlist in the army or something instead..."
Their weary complaints were interrupted by a sharp knock from outside. Gilbert, who was closest to the door, sighed before composing himself and walking towards the entrance. There stood a rather short man with a toothbrush moustache, tapping his foot impatiently. His coat and hat indicated he was a postman, and this was confirmed when he shoved two envelopes into the student's hands. Gilbert nodded and shut the door before examining the two envelopes - one was from a 'Mr Gardner' which must have been for Wilson and the other read 'Miss Shirley Cuthbert'. The curly haired boy's face lit up immediately, and he used his newly found energy to throw the envelope at Wilson's head (earning a laugh from Lloyd) before dashing into his room with his own letter.
Before even opening it, Gilbert sat himself down and kissed the envelope as he lifted it into the air. Despite it only being a few weeks since he had seen the love of his life, the distance only made his love for her increase by ten thousand. Before the last time he had spoken to Anne, Blythe was sure that the fire haired dreamer would never really love him and the very notion of them ever being together was a far away dream. But then Diana helped him realise the truth, that an angel like her really did love him back, and his heart was finally whole after reuniting with her and being able to call her his lover. And yet his heart was ripped in half just as quickly as it healed, and these letters were the closest he would have in a long while to seeing her beautiful face again.
The curly haired boy opened it slowly and inhaled deeply, taking in the familiar scent of wildflowers and nature that she always managed to retain, before grinning from ear to ear. He scanned the contents of the letter and smiled warmly.

The loving smile remained on his face after reading as he kissed the letter once more, and again, and again. He probably wouldn't have stopped at all if it weren't for the snickers he could hear from his doorway from none other than his roommates."Well what do you look so shocked for Gil? It's nothing new for you to be acting so lovesick, don't be ashamed!" Wilson laughed at the boy's scarlet cheeks and gave a high five behind his back to the blonde beside him.
"Oh shut up you two," Gilbert pointed his finger at the two men as Lloyd raised his hands in innocence. "Yes, I'm happy because the girl I've been in love with for years loves me back and these letters prove it every time they arrive."
"Oh so that's why you've already bought a box to keep them in?" Lloyd smirked as his fingers slowly began to lift the small lid of a mahogany chest on Blythe's nightstand, only to be slapped by his roommate, who was now also smiling despite his red complexion.
Once his friends finally managed to stop teasing him and left, the lover boy collapsed on to his bed, brain filled only with the thoughts of his one love. And before he knew it, Blythe was fast asleep, a calm smile spread across his face as he imagined a woman in a white dress, fiery hair cascading down her shoulders behind her flowery veil.

"Well I'll be damned, it's the morning and he's still smiling and dreaming like a lovesick moke, even in his sleep."
