Chris nodded, "Yeah, it's all over the news, so everybody's butting their nose in."
"The FBI is here," you cut in, moving to stand next to Hank. You listened to Chris debrief Hank: The two guards were knocked out and one of the station employees managed to get away. You waited for Connor to move out of the elevator, matching his stride so you could walk next to him. You observed as he took in all of the information Chris was presenting, his LED flashing with the new details.
Your small group moved toward the large screen where the skinless deviant's face was glowing. "Oh, Lieutenant," Chris mentioned, "this is Special Agent Perkins from the FBI." The two men sized each other up, clearly displeased with each other's presence.
Perkins's eyes flickered over to Connor, "What's that?"
You glared at Perkins, ready to give him a piece of your mind before Hank gave you a look telling you to back down. "My name is Connor," he enunciated, "I'm the android sent by Cyberlife."
Perkins faked a smile, "Androids investigating androids, huh?"
"Yeah," you hummed, "it's almost like humans investigating humans." You tilted your head, your lips pressed in a thin line.
"And," Perkins narrowed his eyes, "who exactly are you?"
"Doctor," you stated your first and last name, "I'm assisting Lieutenant Anderson and Connor with this investigation.
Perkins scoffed, "Whatever, the FBI will take over the investigation, you'll soon be off the case."
"Pleasure meeting you. Have a nice day," Hank said while turning around. Perkins reminded you three to "watch your step" before moving to be a dick somewhere else.
"What a fuckin prick," you and Hank said in unison, looking at each other.
Chris grinned, "Let me know if you need anything." Hank nodded in response and began to investigate the crime scene. Connor moved to check the CCTV, and you followed him, watching over his shoulder.
"They didn't break in?" he asked, bending his head to look at you.
"No, no sign of forced entry," you replied.
Connor's brow furrowed, "There are cameras in the hallway. The staff would have seen what was happening... Why did they let them in?"
Hank shrugged, "Maybe they didn't check the cameras." That didn't make any sense, you thought, your brain moving at a mile a minute. Connor must've thought the same thing; he swiveled the chair in front of the security cameras, revealing the white lettering of 'ANDROID' on the back of the chair. The puzzle pieces started to shift into place.
"We stored the station androids in the kitchen," Chris suggested, "There's no evidence that they were involved but we didn't know what else to do with them." We'll be the judge of that.
You marched to the kitchen, you didn't know if you could discern anything from these androids, but you'd like to try. Three androids were standing in front of the bar, their hands folded neatly in front of them. You stood in front of them, your arms crossed, attempting to discern any hint that one of them was a deviant.
Connor entered shortly after you did, "Are you gonna interrogate them?" You inquired, your eyes not leaving the androids in front of you.
"Yes," Connor replied, coming to a stop beside you. You looked up at him before lifting your arm to swipe some of the snow off his shoulder.
Once you were satisfied you took a step back, "The floor's all yours." You retreated to linger by the vending machines on the other side of the room, eager to watch Connor work again.
