"Huh? No way! She has to be okay!" Homura shook his head, refusing to believe the doctor's words.
"I'm afraid we can't be sure until the results are done." The doctor bowed.
-----
"She's also in a vegetative state...?" Hiromi muttered with wide eyes.
"Yes. Her body is functioning and alive, but the impact on her head during the incident damaged her cerebrum. Like plants, she has lost her awareness." The doctor spoke.
Homura grit his teeth before storming out, Kurai following after him to make sure he didn't cause trouble.
Hiromi left the room and went to Y/n's, sombrely looking at the young girl. Then, Hiromi plopped onto a chair in the room and placed her hands on her face as tears streamed down her face.
"Y/n...I'm sorry...You don't deserve this..." She sobbed.
There was a knock at the door, which she heard, but paid no mind to it as she silently cried to herself.
The door opened and Shinichiro entered, sadly looking at Y/n and the weeping older girl. He walked over to his girlfriend and sat on the seat next to her, soothingly rubbing her back as he listed to her devastating cries.
"I'm sorry, Y/n...I'm sorry for not being the good older sister you thought of me...I couldn't protect you..." Hiromi muttered as she dug her fingers into her temples.
"Hiromi...Don't blame yourself. Y/n's happy to have a great older sister like you. Nothing is your fault. You did everything you could to protect Y/n, things just don't always turn out the way you want them." Shinichiro spoke, taking the girl's hands into his own.
"You don't understand...I'm not a good sister or person..." Hiromi said, her head still lowered.
"Hiromi..." Shinichiro muttered.
"I..." Hiromi bit her lip before raising her head to look Shinichiro in the eyes.
The words that escaped the girl's mouth left the room in an unsettling silence as both lovers stared at each other.
"Huh?" Shinichiro's eyes widened.
-----
"You wanted to see me?" Izana asked as he stared at Hiromi.
"Yeah. Let's go, Izana. It's gonna take a while to get there." Hiromi slightly smiled.
The boy blinked before nodding and entering her car.
They left and the car ride was silent but soothing. Soon, they stopped and Izana rose a brow as they stood in front of a hospital.
"What are we doing here? Is someone you know sick?" Izana asked.
"Hmm...No. Just...You'll see." Hiromi said as she began walking towards the entrance and Izana followed behind.
They climbed to the 5th floor and stopped in front of a room.
"Hiromi? Who are you visiting?" Izana asked. "Also, where's Y/n? She always comes with you when you visit."
"Izana...I'm sorry." Hiromi said, opening the door and walking inside.
Izana entered with a perplexed expression as he looked around the room before pausing. His eyes widened as his mouth fell agape at the sight of Y/n on the bed. He quickly moved beside her bed and held her hand, looking up at Hiromi with a worried expression.
"What happened?! Why is Y/n here?!" He asked.
"She got into an accident. A car hit her when she ran into the street after Cat and she's currently unconscious." Hiromi replied, sitting on the chair beside the bed.
"She...She'll be okay, right? Y/n's gonna wake up soon, right?!" Izana asked, desperation in his voice.
"She will probably awake, but...she's most likely going be in a vegetative state. Her cerebrum no longer functions and like a plant, she has no awareness. She's just alive." Hiromi spoke, biting the inside of her mouth.
"Y/n...no...What will I do without seeing you smile and what will happen to your visits? We can't do anything together anymore..." Izana looked at the unresponsive girl with a despaired expression.
"Izana...Can you promise me something?" Hiromi asked.
"Huh? What is it?" Izana sniffled, wiping a few stray tears.
"Take care of Y/n for me. I'm not fit for that role after everything I've done. I'm not a good older sister and I don't deserve her." Hiromi sadly smiled.
"What do you mean? As far as I know and because of what Y/n told me, you're a great sister. What have you done that makes you think otherwise?" Izana asked.
Hiromi stared at him and opened her mouth, the boy's eyes widening as he clenched his fist, taken aback by the girl's doings.

Fun Fact: Every year in December, Y/n would challenge Izana in a gingerbread house contest to see who made the best one. Izana always won and Y/n would end up smashing her own before calming down and eating it.
A/N: I know that Y/n's situation was somewhat like Mikey's and not very original or good, but I needed a reason to keep her alive for some time and the accident to be somewhat avoidable 🧍♀️
