_________________________________My mother worked with S.T.A.R.S for a very long time, she spent most of her time in the office briefing the agents of missions as she didn't do field work. She wasn't allowed to bring me to work with her yet she still did it anyways, as a single mother she didn't know what else to do with me at the time. Though they were always annoyed at first they grew to enjoy having me around to either cheer them on or to simply ease the mood around the Department. A lot of the people that worked at the Department looked out for me. They all felt like family to me, heck I basically grew up there.
On a particulary busy day in the building my mother was sent out on the field team, they were short an agent and things became very bad out there very fast. Since she had a lot of medical and military training she had to go. I of course protested, chasing her to the roof hoping to convince her not to go but I was to late. The helicopter took off as I made it there. I collapsed to my knees, somehow I knew this was the last time I was going to see her.
I was informed of her death a few days later. Knowing that she wasn't coming back the entire time didn't make the news of her death any easier, and them refusing to tell me the cause of her death made everything far worse. I was completely misserable, silent tears streamed down my face as I shut the door and slowly walked upstairs.
I still had to figure out how to tell my younger brother what had happened. He was fifteen so he understood the moment he saw me walk into his room crying.I told him after she had left she went on a mission, and I swore to him she would be back before both of us knew it.
He of course knew I was lying but agreed so that it would hopefully make me feel better."She's gone?" He quietly asked unable to look at me,
All I could respond with was uncontrollable tears, rushing over to him I hugged him tightly as if fearing he would disappear just as she did.
About a week after our mother's death I decided to take B/N shopping for new clothes and other necessities.
As I drove from place to place getting my brother basically everything he asked for, I passed by a hair salon and decided I wanted to get my hair done.
I entered the salon unsure of how exactly I wanted to get it done."Hello what are you here for?"
I quietly stood there thinking for a second.I picked up a pen and wrote my name and my B/N on the list that sat on the counter.
"I want to get my hair dyed and cut please." She nodded.
"What color would you like?"
"I would like F/C dye please."
I smiled at the lady as she looked over to my brother."And you?" He looked at me then back to the lady.
"I just want a hair cut." She smiled then turned around and called someone over.
"This man will be cutting your hair today." He looked at me again and I simply smiled at him and nodded my head to reassure him. He has been very out of it ever since our mother died and he seems to rely on me a lot.
He followed the man to the back and I decided to sit down and wait since it would take a bit to get the dye ready. After not to long of a wait my brother came out looking happier than usual,
I smiled at him as he sat down beside me."You look great!" He looked down, the small amount of happiness he had fading from his face. I frowned and gave him a small hug.
"Y/N, we are ready for you."
The woman from before waved me in, I got up and headed to the back.
