‿︵‿︵୨˚̣̣̣͙୧ - - ୨˚̣̣̣͙୧‿︵‿︵The weather was sunny unlike the usual in California. Too dry and too painfully warm. Scorching. But will wasn't happier to be home. He came home early which to his mom was a big surprise. No more planes. No more troy...and no more Mike. There was always a minus to a plus and this was one of them. But living is how you get over it. And will was going to live on. There were a lot of things he missed. His voice, actions. Laugh. Lips. The small things that made him human. But for mikes case, made him an individual speciality.
He knew this wouldn't be the last time he spoke to him. Not that he'd let that happen. But calls and letters did come in a lot more frequently and will flirting with Mike over the phone as his brother spied on him from a distance was obviously the bigger worry of it all. Each day felt longer, and more boring then what it was in Hawkins. Maybe he just missed the company of Mike's warm embrace and even the make-out sessions that he tried to get used to. not that Mike was any good at that type of stuff either though
It had been around a month since he'd gotten back. School had started up again, but to his surprise, he wasn't that lonely this year, and if anything made a whole new group of friends from his art class. Not that they would compare to Mike, but it was still enjoyable to have someone to talk to. The guys he was friends with were pretty simple, they weren't the guys will expected to be friends with either. A group of four jocks who were friends, they took art as a skipped class due to how easy they thought it would be, but of course, it was harder than it looked. Will felt intimidated at first around them, but once he taught them how to draw a simple tree they all seemed to completely overreact like he created some cure for cancer, running hands through hair and gasping at it. He felt a lot better and even giddy about it
It was fun. Inviting. And they were all very included when it came to hanging out. But will never went. He felt too nervous after what happened with Troy and tried to explain it to the guys who only agreed they wouldn't ask him again until will suggested it.
Finally. A group of people he could trust. And it was nice.
"Mom! I'm home!" Will shouted out, placing his black school bag down onto the wooden floor and he slowly slid his shoes off to put them away on the lower shelf. The hallway smelt nice. Like roasted chicken and potatoes, with a stir fry. His mom could always cook, but Jonathan was the only one who tried extra when it came to it, just to impress people mostly.
The brown-haired male curiously made his way into the kitchen to get closer to the scent now seeing Jonathan happily making food with a grin on his face. What was he so happy for? Will wondered, but decided not to ask him, and bring him out of the trance of cooking by doing so. Just leave him at it, he thought.
"So will." Jonathan started right as Byers was on his way out of the room, awkwardly turning back to face his brother whose smile turned into a more smug look "you and Mike, the guy from Hawkins ...do you have something you wanna tell me." His voice purred into wills pounding heart that did not expect to be asked this. Holy shit. He knew. How did he know?? Did he read one of our letters? Did he hear them on the phone together? Will wanted to tell him soon. But this? This was not how he wanted it to happen
"What...do you mean.." he wasn't nervous that it was Mike in particular. He was sweet, and had a charming personality, to him anyway. But he was more nervous because Mike happened to be a boy. Being with a boy was weird. Unnatural. And he didn't want his own brother to think of him in that light because of it. He was also brought up with Lonnie just like will, and probably remembers more from his older age, how his father spoke about people like him.
"Will. I'm fine with it, but you should have told me. Ya know...I was on the phone with his sister whom I didn't know about...she told me some interesting stuff. Also that you got into a fight with some kid. Who the fuck is Troy Walsh? What a shit name right?" He was caught completely. Damn you Nancy wheeler. Damn you. He didn't think Jonathan had to know about this, more he never even wanted to talk about it anyway. but in a way, he was more confused he was okay with it. A part of him wanted to break down and cry, but he didn't feel that right now. He just felt...empty in a way. Like it was something he was hiding for so long and the reaction seemed too boring. Like what will was doing , was normal from the start. "you should have told the police will. " a sigh slipped his thin lips as he turned down the stove, looking back to his cooking "we have guests coming soon... " guests? Since when do we have guests over? And what is going on with all of this
