With all the lights in the colourful room already charged, Sierra was laying on the small bed, caressing Kirsti's head. She was going to wake up soon.
Sierra didn't get to put Kirsti to bed last night because of the meeting Peter gathered almost everybody for in the council room. Even though she'd had a full night, Sierra was barely processing what they'd learned from the sheet Myrya had found two days ago. Now they had three times as many questions as answers, even Peter was in a complete fog, and Matthew, despite being Peter's lieutenant, knew nothing about the man's further plans.
Apart from that, it was all flowers and sunshine, everyone continued normally. The only new thing in the equation was all this new information, but they were, for sure going to find out the truth.
At least now they were with half a step further in findinding more about the queen. In the file, the letter actually, Eliander was asking the queen for more information about her provenience and something that happened to the Court of Underground. And other smaller bits of information, but not as relevant.
Kirsti's light brown hair was softer than Cynthia's most expensive silk and velvet dresses, she slept so peaceful. Sierra couldn't help thinking about giving Kirsti a normal life, letting her pick flowers from the field, playing with other kids, jumping in a pile of autumn leaves.. Kirsti deserved the world. But now they had hope they haven't seen in years, they knew more about the queen. In every thing you know about someone you can find a weakness.
Within minutes, Kirsti sat up and rubbed her eyes, smiling as she noticed Sierra next to her, who she scooped up into her arms. Sierra kissed her forehead.
"Good morning, sleepy head!" she said to the little girl.
"You own me two stories tonight instead of one!" answered Kirsti and got out of the bed, looking in the closet for something to change in from the night dress.
"No need to hurry, I let you sleep more today and you missed lunch but I asked Myrya to leave you something to eat." said Sierra and sat with her legs crossed on the end of the bed.
"No, it's not that! I have something important to show you!" she said after she pulled a pretty yellow dress over her head.
"You seem quite excited, what is it?" asked Sierra.
Kirsti took the two reflection containers and put them in a drawer, then closed it, leaving the room in total darkness. After that, she turned to Sierra and opened her eyes, which started to shine, like two stars, but dim. And, then, the little girl closed her eyes, concentrated, and the tips of her fingers and then her whole hands started to spread dim light. May only the heir of light end it all..
"Kirsti, when did you discover this?" asked Sierra and took her hands in hers, brushing a finger over them.
"A few days ago, I felt... some power. Like a flower bud that desired to open, inside of me, calling me. I ignored it for quite a while, but then I listened to it, and... well, this happent." she said and put the light back. Now, Sierra could see Kirsti's expression better, she was calm, but a taint of fear was staining her face.
"Why didn't you tell me earlier? Or you could have told Peter." said Sierra. "It doesn't matter now, anyways. Can you control it? I mean, can you turn off and on the light how you like?"
"I didn't try." she said. "But every time I do it I seem to be more and more in control, so maybe if I practice a lot..."
"You don't have to think that far. I'll tell Peter when I find a good time, but right now we just found some things and... it's all a mess. But you don't have to worry about anything, alright?" said Sierra.
