CHAPTER TWO
I'll Never Take Back The Things I Said

Luke found out that Ned accidentally saw Peter as Spider-Man. "Hi. I'm Captain America. Whether you're in the classroom or on the battlefield..." The recording of Steve started to say.

"Do you know him too?" Ned quietly asked Peter.

"Yeah, we met." Peter replied.

Luke fiddled with the bottom of his blue Midtown t-shirt. He examined everyone in the gymnasium. It was seen as a habit. He needed to see everything in the room and analyse it. Luke now knew that Michelle was reading a novel called The Human Bondage.

"... Fitness can be the difference between success or failure." Steve's voice continued in the video.

"I stole his shield." Peter whispered to Ned.

"What?" Ned said in shock.

"Today, my good friend, your gym teacher... will conduct the Captain America Fitness Challenge."

"Thank you, Captain. Pretty sure he's a war criminal, but I have to show these videos. It's required by the state. Let's do it." Coach Wilson told them.

Luke followed Ned and Peter with hesitation. He despised phys-ed. The only reason why he didn't mind training at the compound before was because it was time to spend with his mom. That's it.

Most of the students were doing sit-ups and crunches. It wasn't that he couldn't do it, Luke knew damn well that he could... it was the matter of not wanting to.

He heard Liz, Betty and their friend of which he had no clue what their name was talking about the Avengers. Liz gushed about Spider-Man, which made Luke feel weird. Luke decided to just ignore the weird stabbing pain in his gut and continue doing sit-ups.

"Not bad, Romanoff." Coach Wilson complimented Luke.

He really wanted to just see his mom. But, Natasha did promise to FaceTime later that day, after school. "Peter knows Spider-Man!" Luke's head shot up when he heard Ned exclaim those words.

Both Luke and Peter's eyes widened. Everyone stopped what they were doing. Luke stopped doing the exercises. He just stayed seated. And of course when Ned said they were friends, Flash had a quick response. "Yeah, like Coach Wilson and Captain America are friends. Heh." Flash said.

"I've met him, yeah. A couple of times. But it's... through the Stark Internship." Peter said. "Yeah, well, I'm not really supposed to talk about it." Peter told everyone, practically scolding Ned as he turned around.

"Well, that's awesome. Hey, you know what? Maybe you should invite him to Liz's party. Right?" Flash said, a cocky tone in his voice.

"Yeah, I'm having people over tonight. You're more than welcome to come." Liz offered.

Phys-ed ended soon after. Luke walked out of the gymnasium and was met by Flash standing right in front of him. "What do you want?" Luke asked in a bored tone. He didn't actually want to know, he didn't give a shit.
