"Will you stop pacing and sit down" Harlan scolded Ransom who just couldn't stay still. He paced back and forth in front of the window. His eyes focused on the drive way, waiting for that familiar rumble of that six cylinder impala.
"HUGH!" He shouted gaining the young mans attention "she won't be coming anymore" Harlan sighed, placing his pen on the desk, back in the place it always sat. Ransom turned to face him confused, less than an hour ago, harlan confessed that Cass had been visiting him regularly.
Ransom knew she had to come back, he knew she had a soft spot for Harlan. If only he knew the real reason for her visits. "She ditched you too huh?" He asked, unable to stop himself having a dig at her. It felt like all she did was leave people and run away from her problems.
Ok Cass and Ransom didn't have the easiest of relationships, I mean have you met his family? They weren't exactly the most welcoming to her. Seeing her as a gold digger just after his wealth and name. Cass loved Ransom from the moment she saw him. She fell in love with the real ransom, not the arsehole he is around his family.
"She moving to Kansas with her partner" Harlan explained, he promised not to tell a soul, but he couldn't help it. Ransom hadn't been himself ever since he saw Cass again. He was more agitated and snappy if that was even possible. "Kansas? That's over a thousand miles away! Her family is here" Ransom protested as he began to pace again.
"That's what you took from that?" Harlan asked with a chuckle as he sat back in his chair "she has no family, they disowned her because of you. Anyway why do you care so much? She broke your heart remember?"
Why was Ransom so bothered by her moving away? She embarrassed him and broke his heart is a matter of seconds. The image of her walking away in that short white dress plaguing his dreams. And boyfriend? So she had moved on.
Is that why she left? Was there another man who treated her better? Ransom was willing to bet money that his family drove her away, they always do.
"I don't care, I just know you like her company" he lied,Harlan seeing straight through it. Ransom was still in love with her and he never stopped, not even for just a second. Harlan knew it was going to happen one day, he couldn't always guarantee that Ransom wouldn't turn up unannounced, And that Cass's main priority was to keep Chloe safe from the truth.
"Oh my boy, you know I hate liars" Harlan explained as he left the study. Ransom watched as the rain fell on the window pane, just praying that black beast would pull in to the drive. He had to see her again, he just wanted to know why?
Why she ran away with out looking back
