Lucy was crazy about him. Lucy was crazy about him? Was Lucy crazy about him? The only thing Tim knew for sure was that she had been drunk. So, did that mean that what she said was true or was it just the alcohol talking?
Tim spent most of the night staring at the ceiling above his bed wondering what on earth to do. Was she going to remember what she said? Should he say anything?
He finally drifted off just as the sky was starting to get light but immediately woke up when his phone chimed with a text, as if his whole body had been waiting for that sound.
Lucy: Please kill me.
Since Tim officially had no idea how to handle any of this, he figured he would rather talk to her so he could try and figure out what she was feeling. Lucy picked up on the first ring. "Tim," she said, sounding more subdued than usual, "I'm sorry to tell you I may be dying."
"Are you drinking lots of water? Was it worth the dancing on the bar?"
"Yes, you already reminded me about that last night. And definitely worth it. Luckily today is our day off between sessions so I can recover in bed with ginger ale and The Great British Baking Show."
So, she did remember at least some of last night.
A voice in Tim's head started chanting "ask her, ask her" but he had no idea how to start the conversation.
"Are you feeling any better about being at UC training? I know it hasn't been exactly what you were hoping for"
Lucy sighed. "That's a whole other conversation. I think I need to take one day off from thinking about training."
"Do you want me to leave you to your British Baking Show?" Was he really not going to ask her about what she said last night?
"No...keep me company. Will you watch with me? It'll be like we are actually together."
Tim's heart skipped a beat when she said that and he dutifully turned on Netflix on his TV and cued up the episode she wanted to watch. They sat mainly in comfortable silence for an hour, and then through another episode after that, occasionally exchanging comments about the contestants or what they were making.
After the second episode Lucy, sounding a little more human, said, "That was nice, thanks for hanging out with me. I should probably get dressed and go in search of food."
"Wait, Chen, uh, Lucy. Do you remember all of last night? What you said?"
There was a long pause, and then a sharp intake of breath over the phone. "You mean when I told you I was crazy about you? Yeah, I remember. I wasn't sure if you did or if you wanted to pretend it never happened."
"I definitely remember, but I wasn't the one who had been drinking. And I don't want to pretend it never happened. I mean, unless you do, and then we totally can."
"I don't want to pretend it never happened, Tim. I meant it. I'm crazy about you."
