"Let me go first," Adelaide said, Nysa nodded. "I just want to apologize for before. I understand where you were coming from and you're right. Itri had a life before he was imprisoned, and none of us have a clue as to what it was like. He wasn't always this way and I know something must have happened to make him how he is now. I just didn't want to sympathize because, well, in the end, we need to defeat him and end this, but I shouldn't have shut you down in trying to explain that."
Nysa gave her a small smile, tucking some loose strands of her hair behind her ear, "I, uh, don't want you or anyone else to think I'm defending him, I'm just trying to understand him because, well, if we don't win by fighting him. . . maybe we can try to change him. . . if you know what I mean?"
Nysa's eyes were hopeful, trying to make Adelaide understand what she was saying. It took Adelaide a few seconds to grasp her theory, but she tilted her head thinking about it.
"You want me to use my powers. . . on him?" Adelaide asked.
Nysa looked down, shrugging slightly, "He needs to be locked up no matter what but if we can somehow make him more compliant, then no one needs to get hurt. If we can know what happened, maybe we can help him find enough peace to just back off on his own. He can only live through other people, but if you were to get into his head, change and erase some of his memories. . ." Nysa trailed off, hoping Adelaide will think about it.
Adelaide was in deep thought, a smile taking over, "I think you may be onto something."
"You want to do what?" Halo asked, shocked that Adelaide was suggesting this.
The entire team wasn't exactly sure what got into the two girls who were just recently not on speaking terms and now trying to convince the team to help the enemy.
"So. . . therapy." Evander concluded, giving a deadpan look at the two.
Nysa rolled her eyes, her arms crossed, "Look we still go through with the plan. Free the people he has under his control, disarm and destroy the ship so he can't leave earth, and then get close enough so Adelaide can get into his head, do what she needs to with his memories to make him compliant, and after we take him prisoner, we get my mother to send him back into the confinement constellation and this time, he can't escape."
Darcel stared at his mate with worry, running a hand down his face. Adelaide grabbed his hand in hers, smiling at him reassuringly.
"I can do this." She told everyone.
"Honestly, I think it's a pretty good idea." Fallon grinned.
"Ara what do you think?" Nysa asked.
Ara was contemplating this idea, pacing back and forth, "I mean. . . it could work."
"But?"
"If at any point Itri figures this out, it's over. We'll never get close enough." Ara said, pressing her lips together in a tight line.
"Okay, so we find some random person that Itri has under his control and-"
"That's not how magic works." Nysa muttered, shaking her head at Evander.
"What do you mean?" He asked.
"Itri is able to take over so many people all at once, but all magic has a main source if that makes sense." Nysa came to a realization.
Everyone looked at her in confusion.
"Meaning?"
"A flower needs sunlight, fish need water, people have a heart, everything has a main source of living. He has taken over many people, but there has to be one person that he's pulling all of this power from, someone powerful enough that he's using as a battery to give him all the power he's using." Nysa said, trying to figure out who is main source could possibly be.
"Aside from you, who can be that powerful?" Ara asked in disbelief.
"It can't be someone here on earth. Darcel do you know any supernatural being that strong or powerful?" Nysa asked.
Darcel shook his head, "No, I've met many species in my life and aside from wolves, atlantides and aeteri, I haven't met another species strong enough to be able to handle something like that. Even they couldn't handle it."
"So it has to be an off-world." Nysa said quietly. "Other than the venstri people, I have no idea what other beings are out there."
"Doesn't matter, all we know is that whoever it is needs to be freed in order to fulfill this plan. Which means. . ." Ara took a shaky breath, "We need to split up."
"What?"
"Out of the question."
"No way!"
Everyone started to disagree immediately, but Ara simply raised her hand up, making everyone quiet down.
"We must."
The team was disappointed, but they followed Ara's lead, always.
"How do you want to do this?" Evander asked her solemnly.
"Two teams. One to free and collect the people Itri has scattered throughout the Amazon and one to go directly to his ship to disarm and destroy it, saving whatever power source he's using." Ara said.
"Who is going where?" Fallon asked, not comfortable with splitting up at all.
"Well, there's ten of us, so five and five. Nysa and Halo are the strongest, so they can't be together."
The twins looked at each other with understanding.
"I'll be on the team that frees Itri's minions," Carson said. "I think I finally figured out what those vials are that my mother gave Erin. The serum is an antidote to his mind control, so instead of needing Adelaide for that, we now have a way." He said confidently.
Halo patted him on the back, smiling with pride, "My man."
"Alright then. Halo will lead that team, so Halo and Carson so far for team 'free the people'." Ara smirked.
"I'll go with them as well, I can have the animals search for more people, and have them lead us to them." Fallon volunteered.
"Evander and Darcel, I'm having you join them as well." Ara told them.
"What?" They both said at the same time, neither men wanting to leave their mates.
Halo's eyes snapped to Charm and he frowned at the realization that they'll be separating as well. Charm shot him a sad smile, before looking down at her feet guiltily.
"My decision is final, these are the teams. I know we can do this. The shore east from Itri's ship will be our meeting point in one week. One week. Do you all understand?"
Reluctantly, everyone agreed.
Ara, Charm, Nysa, Erin and Adelaide on one team.
Fallon, Halo, Carson, Evander and Darcel on the other.
Seven days, two teams, one chance.
"We got this."
