You were sitting in the car, on the way to the dance hall, "Dang, it looks like all of the close spots are taken, I'm going to drop you off and then go to the park. Start getting ready without me, okay?"

You slowed down the car, giving them time to exit, "I'll see you in a few minutes!"

You parked up the street, other cars also seemed to be looking for parking places. What you didn't know was that as soon as you had parked the car, Gru's ship launched into space. You felt a slight rumble but assumed that was a car or a heavy truck passing by. You walked quickly as Anita came from the side.

"Sorry I'm late, the heist went on for longer than expected." She pulled her hair back into a half ponytail, slipping her glasses back on.

"Aren't you glad I got you that motorcycle for your birthday?" You chuckled, remembering how she said she would never use it.

"Yes, thank you for that. And for helping me get past my snobbish demeanor. You are the first person to stick with me no matter what." She smiled, pulling you in for a hug.

"Does that mean we can talk about how you have the hots for Dr. Nefario-" You both entered the hall, making your way to the back to help the girls get ready.

"I will cut out your tongue and gut you from the inside out if you ever mention that again." She deadpanned as you felt a shiver go down your spine.

"Anita, children." You whispered as two mothers passed you, looking slightly concerned.

She stopped, looking around, then switched her mood, "So I'll help get their clothes on and you can help with hair and accessories."

You two walked in to see the girls putting their tights on, except for Edith, "Help the girls with their leotards, I've got Edith."

You crouched to match her level, "What's wrong? You don't want to put on your tights?"

Edith shook her head, looking down, "Is there a reason why you don't want to put on tights?"

Edith looked at you, then whispered in your ear, "Oh, okay... uhm, how about we give you leggings instead? I have these pink warm-up leggings that would work under your skirt."

Edith nodded, "Let's get your leotard on, can we take off your hat?"

Edith shook her head, "Why not? I've seen you without your hat on and I think you look beautiful."

Edith held your hand putting her head against your shoulder as she explained, "Mom used to say my hair looked ugly because it's blonde. She wanted me to have brown hair, like Margo or Agnes. She didn't like how I didn't look like them."

You held her close, "I love your blonde hair. One of my closest friends is a blonde and he's almost as adorable as you. If it makes you feel more comfortable, we'll keep it on, okay? What about your shoes?"

She shook her head, "I don't like them, they're not comfortable."

You sighed, "Okay, but we'll work on that. Put your boots on and we'll go check on your sisters."

She nodded as you helped her with her leotard and got her boots on, you both walked to Anita who was helping Agnes with her laces, "When you're done, I'll do their hair, I think we need to sit down soon."

Anita nodded, standing up after she finished Agnes's shoes, "Edith?"

"Later, spend time with her now." You turned to help the girls with their hair, "Okay, who's first?"

Agnes popped up on the seat, looking at herself in the mirror, "Okay then, Margo, please hand me the brush."

You took off her ponytail, brushing it and fixing it, "Can I have a bow?" Agnes asked.

You looked at Margo, "Do we have any ribbon?"

Margo nodded, went through her duffle bag, and pulled out two white ribbons, "here you go."

You thanked her, putting on the ribbon as she looked at herself in the mirror, "Thank you!"

Agnes squeezed you and went to Anita who was teaching Edith why ballet was good for fighting. You patted the seat for Margo to sit down as you readjusted your seat.

"How do you feel?" You asked, looking at her through the mirror.

You gently brushed her hair as she sighed, "Sad."

You nodded, "I don't know why Gru would do that, but if you want, I can talk to him."

Margo shook her head, "No, I don't want to see him at all. He gave us up. I thought..."

You finished her ponytail, adding a bow for hers as well, "We can get food after. Wherever you want to eat. I'll even order in and have a movie night. Ice cream, pizza, breadsticks, Cherry Cola. How does that sound?"

She smiled, hugging you tight, "It sounds great, thank you."

You hugged her and sat there. You sat there for a while, but you wouldn't move. You knew she needed this hug, especially after everything she had been through.

Anita's words rang through your head, 'Always be the last one to let go during a hug. You never know how much they need it.'

So, you sat there, as Margo held on for dear life, not wanting to let her go either, "Places girls! Mom's, I'm sorry, but we'll have to go sit down now."

Margo looked up at you, "I'll be in the audience, okay? I'll see you after your performance. I know you'll do great!" You kissed her forehead and stood up, still holding her hand.

"We'll see you after girls! Muah, muah. Break a leg!" You kissed Edith and Agnes's foreheads as well, walking out with Anita to the audience.

You saw three chairs next to each other labeled in different colored crayons.

'Margo, Edith, and Agnes - Auntie Anita'

'Margo, Edith, and Agnes - Mom'

'Margo, Edith, and Agnes - Dad'

You smiled, taking the piece of paper and folding it, tucking it away in your purse, and out of the corner of your eye, you saw Anita do the same.
