A Touch of Sunshine (gxg)

When I woke up the next morning- everything from the night before came crashing to me like a tidal wave.

Jillian is mad at me.

I spent time with Valerie Maddow.

Valerie punched Headley???

I was hardly even awake when I heard a knock on my door.

I figured that it was maybe Eric, wanting to see how the party was.

Fuck. I was with Valerie. I hope that doesn't get back to him.

"Come in." I said.

My door opened- and to my surprise, Ken was standing at the door. He was fully dressed for the day- unlike me, who was in my nightgown.

"Good morning." I said, sitting up in my bed.

"What happened last night?" Ken asked me, leaning against the door. "Valerie punched Headley in the face? And you were there for some odd reason?"

I sighed, "I needed some air. Valerie just so happened to be where I stepped out. She was wasted. Headley came over and words were said between the two. I guess Valerie got really mad...and she punched Headley."

"Valerie is a goddamn menace." Ken said, shaking his head, "I always thought that it was a bad idea that Headley is even friends with her."

"Roommates." I said, "They live in the same dorm."

"Oh, not anymore." Ken said, "Headley is going to be living in her own room now on campus. I wish I could get Valerie expelled, but the incident happened off campus."

"You know you can't get a Maddow expelled." I said.

"Don't underestimate me." Ken looked at me.

"How is Headley?" I asked him.

"Recovering. Thankfully her father is a Physician. He's taking good care of her. Nothing was broken." Ken said.

"Good to hear." I said, "Ken. I must tell you...Headley wasn't being very kind to Valerie."

"I'm sure Valerie deserved it." Ken said.

No. She didn't.

I didn't say anything back.

Ken then spoke, "Well. Thanks for telling me what happened. I'll see you later, Lucy."

He then shut my door behind him.

For the rest of the weekend I was waiting for my parents to ask me about why I was around Valerie. I was waiting for the other shoe to drop.

But it didn't. At least not at my home.

However, when I got to school on Monday, everyone seemed to know what happened to Headley.

Ellie ran up to me and grabbed my arm, "You have to see Headley walking around with a black eye. I'm calling it karma."

"I'm just glad she's okay." I said.

Ellie rolled her eyes, "Please, you don't have to be diplomatic. She deserved it- I'm sure you would know."

"You know I was there, don't you?" I asked Ellie.

"I heard that you were just getting some air though." Ellie said, "Valerie made that clear. Though I'm shocked you were even at the party."

"Yes, I went there with...Jillian." I said. I felt my stomach drop again.

I am going to have to talk to her.
