"Right on time. Colby should be down here in a minute." Sam smiled towards me. He stepped aside so I could walk into the trap house.
It was the day we were going to film for their channel. I was for sure excited, I've never done anything like this.
Like Sam said, Colby came down the stairs a minute later. He noticed I was here and smiled at me.
"Hey, Ren." He greeted me. Sam made sure Colby had the cameras, batteries, masks, and water before we piled into the car and left.
The pair sat up front while I sat in the back. It was almost a three hour long car ride so I made sure to bring a book with me.
I enjoy reading, it's a fun hobby of mine. "So, have you ever done anything like this before?" Colby asked making conversation.
I shook my head towards him. "No, this will be my first time. Is there anything to be worried about?" I question.
The pair both shook their heads. "Just make sure you watch where you're going. You're safe with us." Sam reassured me.
It makes me feel a little bit safer. "Have you been caught?" I ask curiously. They give each other a knowing glance.
"Almost, but we have the XPLR Gods on our side." Colby teased a little bit.
I just smile to myself while I look out the window. I was still excited for this little trip.
The drive wasn't too horrible. Whenever they would talk within themselves, I read some of my book.
Once we got there, we all gathered out of the car. We were in the middle of the desert, and it was hot.
Like, scolding hot. "You ready?" Colby asked as I nodded my head. I started to quickly tie my hair up into a ponytail.
They propped the camera while we all got into the frame. I saw Sam hit the record button, the red light flashing.
"What's up guys? It's Sam and Colby?" Colby did their intro. "And today, we have a special guest, Ren Elliot!" I smiled into the camera.
"Today, we took Ren to our first place we went to explore on the channel and it's her very first time doing a bando." Sam explained.
Both boys turned over to look over at me. "I'm very nervous to run into a homeless man." I lightly joke.
The boys laughed a little bit as we walked towards the hotel. This place looked super rundown.
"Damn, it's been months since we've been here." I could tell Colby was thinking back to the first time they went there.
After going through some brush and under a bridge, we made it to the motel.
"I forgot how nice this pool is." Sam said while filming it. "You know what that means." I say as they turn the camera towards me.
They both looked at me confused. "Pool party, duh." I joke making Colby laugh.
We went inside one of the rooms and looked around. "This place is super creepy." I say while looking at everything.
"Last time we were here, we kept seeing the same creepy car." Sam remembered back.
Exploring this place was honestly really fun. It's crazy that people used to stay in these rooms with their families.
"Get down!" There was urgency in Sam's voice as he crouched down. I followed along while I tried to look for someone.
"What'd you see?" Colby whispered. Sam was filming away from us. "I thought I saw someone." He whispered back.
I don't know what to do or say right now. Sam barely stood up so he could check and quickly went back down.
"I think he saw me, we need to go hide somewhere else." Sam told us. As we were crouching, we were running into another room.
My heart was racing in case we got caught. We waited it out for a couple minutes and we figured we would be safe.
We started looking around again. I can see why they like doing this. It's very adrenaline based.
We stayed there for maybe ten minutes until we heard someone scream hey. We all looked at each other with worry in our faces.
It didn't take us long to start running away from whoever screamed at us. We ran through the bushes and under the bridge to run back into the car.
When we get back to Sam's car, we all jump and pile inside. Sam started the car while Colby filmed.
I was trying to catch my breath while Sam started to drive away. "That was the scariest shit of my life, holy shit." I speak up.
It took me a moment to catch my breath. As Sam drove, they did their outro, and explained how they did a video on my channel.
Colby turned the camera off and sat it in his lap while looking out the window. "I'm starving." He thought out loud.
Sam glanced at him as he drove. "You wanna stop to get food before we hit the road?" Sam asked as Colby turned to me.
"Is that okay with you?" He asked me sweetly. I didn't realize how hungry I was until he asked.
I nodded my head with a light smile. We decided to go to a Subway since it might be faster.
We all walk inside so we can order our food. I ordered a foot long meatball since it was my favorite.
I went and found a table so we could eat together. Colby then came over and sat down across from me.
"So, how did you like your first bando?" He asked while pulling his sub out of the bag.
I smiled a little bit while I sipped on my Gatorade. "It was a lot more running than I thought, but it was really fun." I tell him honestly.
He smiled happily knowing I enjoyed it. Sam came over and sat his sub down, telling us he was going to use the bathroom really quick.
"Devyn said you moved here a couple months ago, how're you liking it?" Colby asked while making conversation.
I finished chewing before I spoke to him. "Yeah, I've visited a few times but it's nice to actually live here."
Everyone I've met has been super nice and welcoming. "What took you so long to move out here?" He asked.
"We were waiting to hear if my sister got a scholarship so she could move down here with me." I explain.
He looked surprised to hear that I have a sister. "I'm assuming she got her scholarship?" He laughed a little bit.
I nodded my head towards him. "Softball scholarship at UCLA so she's thrilled about it." I tell him.
Talking to Colby was honestly super easy. Before we could continue talking, Sam came back.
Today was honestly a really good day. It was good to get out and do something spontaneous.
I honestly would do something like this again. As we drove back to Los Angeles, we all listened to music.
When we reached their house, it was almost five pm. I'm still amazed by how big their house is.
"Thank you again for this little outing, it was super fun." I smiled while we piled out their car.
Both boys turned to me with smiles on their faces. "I'm happy you could join." Sam smiled towards me.
He started to walk inside as I looked at the brunette. "I was wondering if I could have your number, so I could get your address."
I wonder why he sounded so nervous. The three of us have been messaging on Instagram DM's.
I smiled a little bit and nodded. I gave him my number as he typed it out. He then texted me really quick so I had his number.
He locked his phone and stuck it into his pocket of his black skinny jeans.
"I'll see you tomorrow." He told me while waving. I tell him bye as I get in my car to get back him.
That's the thing I love about hanging out with Sam and Colby so far.
They're both genuine people.
