Without further ado, the first chapter of 'Eternity With Us'
"When did you get back?" I smiled as Mitch curled against me in our bed. I didn't open my eyes.
"And you didn't call me to come home?" I chuckled.
"I don't actually know how long I've been back." I felt his fingers begin running through my hair.
"I missed you. Never leave me again." I finally opened my eyes to see my beautiful husband. I sat up causing him to sit up with me. My hands went to touch the side of his head.
"You changed your hair. And you shaved." He moved the remaining long strands of hair from his eyes.
"Do you like it?" He asked shyly. I've seen sides of Mitch since we've been married that no one else has had the pleasure to see.
"You're adorable." My fingers went to grab his chin, my thumb going to brush over his bottom lip. It stopped on the cut on the left side. "Mitch-"
"It's nothing I couldn't handle." He flashed me a sad smile before getting up of the bed. "I'll make you breakfast before I have to go to work." He skipped out of the room. I knew better than to trust that smile. I knew better than to trust that happy attitude. I was leaning against the doorway to the kitchen. I watched Mitch. How tired he looked.
"Mitch, baby-"
"Don't start that, Scott. I don't need you to worry about me. I'm f-fine." His voice cracked a little.
"You look like you haven't slept in months." He let out a tired sigh. "Come back to bed with me. It's midnight, Mitch." He finally let all the loneliness and exhaustion take over his composure. I came over to lift him into my arms and brought us both back to bed. Mitch ended up on top of me, his legs splitting either side of my body. He kissed me so gently. Like I wasn't really there. I could feel the cut on his lip that interrupted the smooth kiss.
"I missed you so much."
"I know the feeling." He suddenly stopped. "What happen to your lip?" He moved to lay next to me. I missed Mitch in multiple ways when I was away. I missed his silky voice when he would whisper in my ear. Or the times at dinner when I would sign to him. And the exciting texts that we would send could never make up for how I feel being with him.
"I got in a fight."
"Why?" He sat up and began picking at his nails.
"Because of who I am." My hand came to rest on his shoulder. "They don't like people like us here." I moved to put my chin where my hand once was. I turned his face towards me. It made my blood boil that someone hurt him.
"Tell me where they are. I'm going to fucking kill them." Mitch shook his head.
"Don't worry about it. It was a one time deal. I don't even know who they are." He leaned on me. "Do you want to go watch a movie?"
"Sure." I was laying on the couch with my head in my husband's lap. Mitch was running his fingers through my hair. He was contented playing with my hair. He spiked it up and then at one point flattened it. He wasn't watch the movie. He was only messing with me. "Are you sure everything is okay?"
"Yeah." He nodded as his words came out quietly. I sat up to kiss him. I felt his hand rest on my chest. "How are your parents?"
"Nice and moved in." My finger was poking his hearing aids. He laughed.
"Stop. I can hear that."
"You started wearing them again?" He shrugged.
"No one is as amazing as you. They don't know how to speak to me without them." Mitch fell asleep in my arms as we were on the couch. I would what he went through whenever I was gone. I know he doesn't like to worry me but by saying nothing he worries me more. He sighed in his sleep.
"Don't shut me out again, Mitch."
