Chapter 6: For the love of a friend

Jason then joined them.

Theo: Hey Jase!
Jason: Hey Theo.
Theo: I hope I'm not interrupting your date.
Layla: It's not a date.
Jason: This is just a friendly hangout. Layla's dating Asher.
Theo: That's amazing! I'm glad the dud finally confessed to you. Though I didn't know you guys were dating.
Layla: He didn't mention it?
Theo: No. We're gonna hang out with the guys in, like 2 hours, so maybe he planned to tell us then.
Layla: Wait, he's supposed to be hanging out with you guys later?
Theo: Yeah, why?
Layla: Nothing, don't worry about it. Anyway, it was nice seeing you again.
Theo: Same here. Bye guys.

Theo smiled at them before skating. The two of them continued to skate for the next half an hour.

Half an hour later

They left the ice rink and were on their way to eat lunch.

Layla: What could Asher be doing that he lied about seeing his friends now and not later? Maybe Theo just got the times mixed up and that's why he was there. But Theo isn't one to lie and forget things, at least that's what Jasmine and Asher have told me. I'll talk to him-
Jason: Layla!

Layla snapped out of her thoughts and looked at Jason.

Jason: Are you okay? You zoned out for a few seconds.
Layla: Yes I'm fine. I'm just thinking.
Jason: Is it about Asher?
Layla: Yes. Do you know anything about the hang out?
Jason: Well yes, I'm going with then later but as for now, all I know is that Asher went out with Mason.
Layla: Oh okay.
Jason: Yeah.

They got icecream before leaving. Jason dropped Layla off at the house and walked her to her door.

Layla: Thanks for taking me out today.
Jason: Anytime. Bye Lia.

He hugged her and it made her a bit uncomfortable as she's never hugged him before. He then left after she went inside the house. Jasmine then hugged her tightly.

Jasmine: So, how was it with your dad?
Layla: I didn't go to see him. He said he was busy so I'll see him later.
Jasmine: Okay. So then what did you do?
Layla: Jason took me to ice-skating and we got icecream. We also saw Theo there.
Jasmine: Cool. Did you see your psycho crusher?
Layla: No. Maybe he knows that we've called the police so he'll back off.
Jasmine: That usually doesn't happen.
Layla: You watch too many movies.
Jasmine: It can happen.

Layla rolled her eyes and went up to her room. She found a note on her bed. Jasmine came in shortly and saw it.

(**Warning: Mentions of blood**)

Jasmine: No, you're not reading it. Let's go.
Layla: What if it can give us a clue as to who this stalker is?

Jasmine stayed quiet. Layla picked up the letter and they read it together.

"Dear Layla, your boyfriend doesn't deserve you. He's hiding something from you and that will break your heart. I just thought I'd let you know. I can't stand to see the girl I love get hurt by a guy who doesn't deserve her."

They exchanged looks. They both had questions.

Jasmine: Don't listen to him. Ash is loyal. He wouldn't do anything to hurt you, especially since I threatened him.

Layla just nodded. Jasmine took the letter, grabbed a lighter from the kitchen and went outside. Layla followed her. Jasmine used the lighter to set the letter on fire. It burnt up quickly.

Layla: We could've gotten that for fingerprints.
Jasmine: I know, that's why I tore off a part of it.

Jasmine held up the piece of paper she had torn off. Layla took it from her after seeing writing, and she and read it.
