Ravonna flew over the Orc pack, scouting their location for the dwarves, in her bird form yet again. They were close, too close on their trail for her liking. She dipped down and flew back to their hiding place. She landed gracefully, ruffling out her feathers and morphing back into her human form.
"How close are they?" Thorin asked, grabbing her forearm.
She ran a hand through her strawberry blond hair, a habit she did when she was nervous. "Too damn close. We must get a move on. But there is something else out there."
"Did it take the form of a bear?" Gandalf asked.
"Yes.." She said as her memory clicked. "But....he is still alive?"
"Yes."
"We must go, they will catch our scent." Dwalin interrupted, eager to get out of the hot spot they were in.
"Lead the way." Bifur nodded to Ravonna.
She took that as her cue. She morphed into her panther form as the group broke out into a run.
She growled at Thorin to get his attention."Follow her! Do not branch off, no matter what happens!"
She smiled internally. He knows me so well.
The Company raced on through the day and night, following the way to Beorn's cabin. Ravonna could smell the orcs to her left, as her paws thundered into the ground. Her adrenaline rushed through her body as she leapt over any obstacle in harm's way. If any Orc or Warg got too close, she tossed them away like rag dolls, the crunch of bone between her jaws ever so satisfying.
Thankfully, Thorin soon spotted the house in the distance as they ran. The dwarves were getting tired.
Just then a ginormous black bear burst from the woods, letting out a ferocious roar. Ravonna soon made her lean panther body bulky and muscular like a bear's.
Direct them to his cabin. I'll deal with him. She spoke to Gandalf in her mind.
She raced over to where Beorn was running and pounced. They desperately clawed and scratched each other to keep each other at bay. He swung his ginormous paw over her face, knocking her down. He rose his torso up, preparing his death blow. Ravonna rolled out of the way just in time, his paw slashing the ground. She soon chose to flee, seeing as she was not used to her bear fighting skills as much as Beorn was. He could easily take her down.
She barely made it through the closing doors and Beorn crashed into them, growing and hissing at Ravonna. The dwarves let out cries as they tried to shut the doors against Beorn's supernatural strength.
She morphed back into a human, panting and groaning from all of the slashes he inflicted on her. Thorin rushed over. "Are you okay?"
"What would you say?" Ravonna put her feelings into words nicely for his sake.
"What the hell was THAT?" Dwalin shouted in surprise.
"That, my dear Dwalin," Gandalf began, "is your host."
"And my brother." Ravonna added.
