Steve's lips were hungry against your own, his hand lazily resting on your thigh as his thumb stroked against the delicate swell of flesh. Your dress hitches a fraction and his fingertips brush against your exposed skin sending a shiver through your spine.
It was like he was pouring every missed opportunity into it. Every time he wanted to kiss you, wanted to take you in his arms and smother you with his affections, was being delivered to you in that moment.
For so long he'd held back, allowing you to move at whatever pace you were comfortable but now that he had it, he was struggling to keep himself together. It's not until the gentle press of your palm against his chest that he actually lets you go, resting his forehead to your own as you elicit a breathy chuckle.
"Sorry... I should stop..." He mimics your laugh, lips slackened into a blissed out grin that was mirrored on your own expression.
"No, I just need to catch my breath." You tell him, blood singing with desire and joy. Who knew that smushing faces together could make something that felt so entirely ecstatic? Your heart was hammering so hard in your chest that you thought it might rip free, bursting out to give itself over to him physically as well as emotionally.
Collapsing back against the cushions, Steve does the same beside you, rolling onto his side to look at you.
He was practically glowing with happiness and you were sure you sported the same look.
Turning to face him as well, you shuffle close so you were able to reconnect your lips to his for a brief moment, savoring the feeling like you were unable to get enough of it. "Hmm, I should set out candles more often." Steve hums and you giggle softly at the teasing words, settling into his arms as they wrap around you, your head resting comfortably on his chest.
"I'm gonna have to agree with you there."
His fingertips brush over your cheek, moving into your hair so his palm could warm the planes of your jaw. Leaning into it, you brush your lips over the heel of his hand and he smiles affectionately at you. "Do we have to go home tonight?" You ask, eyes peering up at the sky, daydreaming about a night spent under the glittering stars.
"Do you want to?"
"No."
"Then we'll stay. I packed plenty of blankets," His heated breath fans over your features as he looks down at you and you crane your neck to return his gaze, unable to contain your smile at how adoringly he regarded you.
"Perfect." You say, leaning up to capture his taste once more. He willingly gives it too, all to eager to bask in the bliss of your lips.

A few weeks later saw the manic heights of Christmas circling throughout the house. His parents were long gone on their travels once more, intent on apparently spending Christmas in London. You didn't mind at all. It meant the time could be spent just you and Steve.
It wasn't something you really understood - Christmas, that is. Like many other traditions of modern society, this was something else you were experiencing for the first time.
Steve explained to you a few times why you celebrated it and how it was celebrated but it did nothing to help. Still, it was something he seemed to be looking forward to and as always, his mirth was infectious so you go along with his seemingly crazy plans.
Today he was taking you to look at trees. You were in the car on the way to the Christmas tree farm, Steve beside you in the ugliest sweater you'd ever seen and yet it somehow worked on him. It was navy with a white reindeer and snowflake pattern. Usual attire at this time of year he'd assured you, but that didn't mean you were about to join in.
