You finished some time later, you set out two plates and placed the food on them. You looked to Dabi, who was still on the couch. You walked the two plates to the dinner table before looking to Dabi once again. "Uh, it's ready." You told him, but got no answer. "I said it's ready." Still no answer. You sighed and walked over to the couch, was he purposely ignoring you just to piss you off? Cause it was working. You reached the couch, then stopped in your tracks when you saw that Dabi was sleeping.

He chest rose and fell gently, his face was relaxed. Like this, he almost looked like a normal human being. Almost. You sorta didn't want to wake him, he looked so peaceful. But you weren't about to have a whole plate of food wasted. So you lightly tapped his shoulder. "Hey, wake up." Dabi stirred but didn't wake. You huffed and placed your hand on his shoulder and shook him. "I said wake u-Ah!" Dabi grabbed your wrist and pulled you towards him, you lost your footing and feel forwards.

You opened your eyes after the impact, you were on top of Dabi, head on his chest. Your heart started racing, but in a bad way, you figured. You looked up, he was still sleeping. But if he woke up and saw you like this, he'd kill you for sure. You tried to back away, but was stopped by his arms wrapped around your back, he had you locked in. Panic started to set in as you tried over and over to get loose from his iron grip.

All your movement seemed to have woke him up. He groaned and looked down at you, an unreadable expression on his face at first, before that shit eating grin returned. "Well, what a sight to wake up to." You opened your mouth to explain yourself. "There you go doing things with my permission again. You creep."

Your face turned red. "I am not a creep! You did this! Not me!" Your voice squeaked due to being so flustered. Dabi gave you a confused look, before realizing where his arms were. "Huh, look at that. Looks like I did play a part in it. But, why haven't you moved away yet? If it bothers you so much?"

You hit his chest before standing up. "Maybe because you wouldn't let go of me!" You straightened your shirt out. "Now shut up and eat." You pointed to the table. Dabi stood up as well and stretched, his shirt riding up slightly, you turned away not wanting to get anymore flustered than you already were.

He walked past you and sat down at the table. You reluctantly did the same.

The two of you started to dig in, well, one of you more than the other. You glanced up at Dabi, he ate like he hadn't had a good meal in a while. You swallowed the bite that was in your mouth before hesitantly asking. "How long has it been since you've eaten?" Dabi looked at you, he swallowed the insane amount of food that was in his mouth before answering you. "Being on the run, you don't get the chance to sit down and have a good meal you know? I take whatever I can get."

That...was actually pretty upsetting to think about.

"So, I guess it's been a while." Dabi said before taking another bite. You didn't talk anymore after that, but a part of you wished you had made extra tonight. Finishing half of your food, you pushed your plate of food towards his empty one. Without a word you stood up and took his empty plate to the sink before making your way to your bedroom. Dabi watched as you left. He looked down at the plate of food in front of him.

Something stirred in his chest at the surprisingly kind gesture from you. Though he thought nothing of it before eating what was left. He took the plate to the sink before heading to the couch. You poke your head out your bedroom, he noticed and looked at you.

"I'll make a big meal for tomorrow night. That is, if you're still here." You said before closing your door. Dabi didn't know what to think of that. Since when did you care if he ate or not? "Whatever." He muttered before plopping down on the couch. He sighed out a heavy breath before closing his eyes, trying to get back to sleep. Yet, sleep would not find him.

And neither would it find you. You laid in your bed looking up at the ceiling, you brought a hand up to your head and smacked it lightly. Stupid. Why did you care so much? You rolled over on your side. You didn't. You could care less. But if that was the case, then why did you give him your food like that? He was a grown man, he could find his own food. But again, if that were the case, why did he say what he did?

'Being on the run, you don't get the chance to sit down and have a good meal you know? I take whatever I can get. So, I guess it's been a while.'

Why did that make you feel so...bad? It shouldn't have. He was a killer, a villain, they didn't deserve your kindness, and neither does he.

But, for some reason, you didn't want to think like that. It wasn't the way to think, hell, if your mother heard you thinking like that...

Let's just say, she wouldn't be very proud.

Your mother was the very human version of the word kindness. She felt that everyone deserved kindness, no matter who they were. Her words still lingered in your mind to this day. You can still remember them, fresh as when she said them to you when you were little.

It started when she picked you up from school at the end of the day, her smile fell when she noticed that you were sitting alone from the other kids who were playing while waiting for their parents. Her heart broke when she saw that you were crying as well. She hurried to your side and picked you up, holding you close.

"My baby, what's wrong?" Her voice was like silk.

You sniffled before answering her. "T-Those kids were really mean to me." Your mother looked to the kids playing, an unreadable look on her face. She looked back to you. "They were mean to you?" She asked as she started to walk back home. You nodded. "They called me names and pulled my hair." Your mother sighed and patted your back. "I hope you did not do the same back." You shook your head. "Good. Don't ever stoop to their level. Instead, be kind."

You look up at her. She used her shirt to wipe away your tears. "Be kind? But, why should I? They're so mean to me!"

Your mother shook her head. "No sweetie, meanness can not be met with more meanness. It can however, be met with kindness. There will be many people in our lives who will be mean. Who will do things to try and hurt you. And you know what we do in return? We rise above their cruelty, and we be kind." You listen to her as she continued. "Remember Y/n. No matter how cruel the world is, try to always be the one who brings light in the darkness. Be the one who brings a smile to a landfill of frowns. And always, always, show kindness to others. Because you never know just who might need it the most."

You sniffled and pulled the cover up above your head as you cried. If there were ever a time you would need her, it would be now. "I just don't understand how you could think like that. How I could think like that, after everything that's happened." You sobbed quietly. Her words did however leave a mark on you and your actions.

You didn't have to help who you thought was a stranger that night. You didn't have to offer Dabi a warm meal, or give him more. You didn't have to care about where he was eating properly or not. But you did. You did care.

But you really wish you didn't.
