(Deena's pov)
After we went to the burger king, Sam went back home. Now I'm laying in my bed, listening to a mixtape I made of the pixies. Suddenly the phone starts ringing. Hoping that it's Sam, I pick up the phone."Hello?" I answer.
"Deena?" The worried tone in Sam's voice worries me. There's music in the background. Is she at a party?
"Sam, what's wrong?" I ask immediately.
"Kate and Simon invited me to this party. I thought you would be here too, so I went. Why aren't you here? Peter is here and he's following me and I can't find Simon or Kate." She says as her voice breaks.
"Where is the party? I'll be there as soon as possible." My heart fell out of my chest when she told me that Peter was there and he was following her.
She tells me the adres as I write it down on a paper.
"Okay, Sam. I'm coming right now."
"Deena, I'm in one of the bedrooms." She tells me.
"Okay, Sam. I'll be there." I say and put down the phone. I rush downstairs, I don't even bother to put on shoes and I leave with my crocs. I get into my car and start driving. Luckily the party is only a few streets away and I'm there in 2 minutes.
I run to the house and open the door. The moment I walk into the house the smell of alcohol and drugs invades my body.
"Deena? What are you doing here? I thought you didn't like parties." Simon says when I bump into him.
"Why didn't you invite me when Sam was going?" I start yelling at him. "Do you know that Peter is here and started following her?"
"Oh, I'm sorry Deena. I didn't know he would be here. You're right, I'm so sorry." He apologies but I ignore him and go upstairs to look for Sam.
At one of the doors I can see Peter standing. "Come on, Sam. I just want to talk to you. Don't be such a bitch." My anger rises at the sight of it. I walk to the door and push him away.
"Sam? It's me. It's Deena." I say holding my ear against the door. I hear a lock click and I back off the door a little so she can open it. As soon as the door opens, Sam collapses into my arms.
"It's okay, Sam. I'm here." I tell her as she starts crying.
She pulls away and I take her hand. "Come on, let's go home." I tell her and try to take her with me, but something's holding her back. Or must I say someone is holding her back.
"Peter, let go of her. She doesn't want you, and she never will."
"Oh so you can read her mind now?" He asks as he chuckles. Does he really think he's funny?
"Peter, let go. I don't want you." Sam answers, yanking her arm away.
We run down the stairs as Peter is still following us. When we run through the crowd we finally get to the front door. Peter arrives but he's held back by Kate.
"No assholes allowed in this house." She says. "Didn't you read the sign before coming in?" She asks as she points at the sign.
Peter chuckles. "What are you gonna do? Hit me with a chair?" He asks and right that second Simon runs to him with a chair and hits him.
"Hell yeah, I will!" Simon yells and then laughs at Peter who fell on the floor.
I take Sam's hand and walk out of the door.
The cold breeze hits our skin as we walk outside. I don't let go of her hand as we walk to the car. I glance behind me multiple times to make sure that Peter isn't following us.We're both in the car now. I glance beside me at Sam. Her hands are lightly shaking on her lap.
"Are you okay?"
Silence.
"Sam, I'm so-" I try to finish my sentence but get interrupted by her.
"Just drive. Please." I can hear her voice break. I nod and start the car.
"Do you want me to drop you off at your house or mine?" I ask.
"Mine. My dad's going to freak out if he finds out I'm not in my bed tomorrow. I don't want to call him up and wake him either. The doctor said he needs rest."
"Of course, I'll drop you off there." I tell her with a smile.
The rest of the car ride is silent. When I glance at Sam to check on her she's just staring out of the window with a blank expression. Not one single tear is rolling down her cheeks and it worries me.
I park on the driveway of her house. "Do you want me to go inside with you?" I ask and she nods.
We get out of the car and Sam walks to the door with the keys in her hands. She opens the door and we go inside, trying to be as quiet as we can.
Sam takes my hand and leads me to the stairs to go to her room. Right next to the stairs we hear her dad snoring in his sleep. We go upstairs and walk into Sam's room.
"Are you okay?" I ask as we both sit down on the bed. She sighs deeply and looks down at her lap. She's picking the skin of her fingers again which means she's anxious. I intertwine our hands and she looks up at me.
"It's okay. You can tell me." I say softly. She leans down with her head on my shoulder and I lean my head on hers.
"Deena, I was so scared from the moment I saw him." Sam starts to explain. Her voice is calm but shaky and she's lightly squeezing in my hand. "He kept following me and suddenly Kate and Simon were gone. That's when I ran to that room and called you."
I give her a kiss on top of her head and then turn to her, so that we're facing each other. "I'm so sorry I wasn't there, Sam. I didn't know there was a party. They didn't invite me." I explain. Her face softens and she looks up at me with those gorgeous blue eyes of her.
"Wait, they didn't call you?" Sam says, not believing what she just heard from me.
"No, they didn't." I tell her, forcing a small smile on my face.
"What the hell? That's so fucking rude!" She says in an angry tone.
"Yeah, well it doesn't matter." I look down at our intertwined hands as I start to feel a little uncomfortable. Not because of Sam. I just don't feel comfortable when we start talking about my feelings. And right now that conversation is at the tip of sam's tongue.
"What do you mean It doesn't matter? It does. They have been your friends since forever and now they invited me to the party but not you." I keep looking down as I feel myself getting more and more uncomfortable. I know I shouldn't be uncomfortable about stuff like this, but it's not like I can change it.
"It's okay." I mutter. "I just want to sleep."
Sam nods. "Okay. But can you please stay here? I don't want to stay alone after what happened."
"Of course." I say with a small smile on my face. I lean in and kiss her on the forehead. We both change into some pyjama's, of course I take one of Sam's because I don't have mine here. I call my dad up to tell him that I'm sleeping over at Sam's and go lay in bed next to my girlfriend.
We turn the lights off, wrap our arms around each other and we fall asleep in each others arms once again.
