Hi Readers: What did you guys think of the first chapter that I wrote for you guys today? Let me know in the comments, and I hope to hear some good feedback from you guys. Now, I am definitely not going to keep you guys waiting any longer than I have to as there are not that many notes that I need to write for you guys right now. Here we go with Chapter Forty-Nine.
XXXXXXXXXXX XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX"I truly regret ever being with Hallie in the first place." That was the thought that was running through both the husband and wife's minds at the moment, as it was a statement that Matt Casey never imagined himself saying; he learned so much from that relationship, including what it meant to feel loved by a woman. He learned what true love could be, at least what he thought true love was at the time; but there are also times where he wonders what his and Gabby's life could've been had he never been in a relationship with Hallie, and had just been with Gabby from the start. What would that have changed for the both of them? Would they have gotten engaged sooner? Would they already be parents? Would they have ever had to deal with all of the troubles that they've dealt with over the past few months? Or would that have still happened, regardless of the fact that they were together for years? They were all unknows, and he couldn't go back.
He couldn't go back to that Christmas Party, where he had a chance to say yes to being with Gabby rather than Hallie; where they could've shared a kiss, and felt the fireworks that were radiating off of the both of them that night. He felt the sparks that were there in between the both of them, nobody could deny that; they have been in love with each other for years, even though he doesn't truly like to admit that due to the fact that he was engaged to another woman at the time. Well, he doesn't exactly know what he and Hallie were at the time, as they weren't exactly together. But he was still just off of a heartbreak, and it felt wrong to be with someone that quickly. But what if it could've led to what him and Gabby have now so much sooner? That's what he wonders about all the time, and he hates that he even thought that way. Just taking a breath, he knew that they were going to talk about this now; after all, he did open this can of worms. He needs to talk now.
Well, one of them hast to talk at least. Matt didn't know whether Gabby wanted to start the conversation, or if she wanted him to conversation; that was probably the case though, as it was how he was feeling. It was his regrets to talk about, not hers. Just taking a breath, Matt turned his head and looked down at the woman he loves; the woman he is so happy that he gets to call her his wife. And even better, the woman he's proud to be expecting a family with. A family that they're going to raise here in Chicago. Taking a breath, Matt looked at his wife as he stroked her side. "That took some courage to say, didn't it baby?" Feeling the tense air that was still in between them start to soften, Matt let out a sigh of relief as he was glad that he wasn't the one who had to break the awkward moment of silence that they were just sharing just then. "Thanks for breaking that awkward moment of silence." Gabby laughed when she heard Matt tell her that, feeling the same way.
Wrapping her arms around his back as they laid down in bed together, Gabby smiled when she felt Matt tug the covers up on top of the both of them while putting his hand on her neck; leaning over his wife, Matt smirked as he bent down and proceeded to kiss the woman of his dreams softly. "I love you." Gabby nodded as she heard Matt tell her that he loves her, which is something that she always knows; but, that doesn't mean that she doesn't love to hear him tell her that he loves her day in, and day out. It's something that she will always enjoy hearing, as she never knew if she'd ever get the chance to hear this gorgeous man (whom she now gets to call her husband) say that to her each and every day. "Do you want to talk about what you just said?" Matt took a breath when he heard Gabby ask him whether he wants to talk about it. "You mean how I have regrets?" Gabby took a breath, agreeing with the man she loves. "There's only one way to talk about them."
