She jolts at the sound of a person's voice. Looking up to see the figure of a person, running towards her with a bunch of other people following behind. And in the eyes of a distressed child, they looked like nothing but a glob of monsters trying to hunt her down.

Were they the ones who did this? Have they come to kill me? Should I make a run for it? But even if I do run, where else do I go?

She crawls away, unable to trust her legs to stand and run. Hurry Hurry Hurry Hurry Hurry Hurry Hurry! I don't wanna die! Not again!

Tears were blurring her sight, breathing raggedly as if oxygen was a foreign subject, Lily sniffled as she bit down her urge to cry aloud. She wasn't this sensitive. No, She was much stronger than this. But perhaps the emotional capability of a toddler wasn't as strong as the 20-year-old version of her.

Why is this happening to me?

Why me?

Where'd everyone go? Did they leave here?

Did something bad happen to Mom?

Why isn't she here?

Did she also abandon me?

Lily eventually stands up, albeit shakily, and she runs to the forest without glancing back. Looking back would only hinder her from escaping and saving herself from them. There was ringing in her ears and the field was dark she could barely see anything. Now that she was far from the burning Mansion, the air was ruthlessly cold, maybe because it was almost winter (or maybe because of the fear in her veins).

She was occupied with running for her life. Not feeling anything from the bleeding cuts she attained from the blunt and sharp edges of trees and rocks that scraped her soft skin. Lily didn't know where her feet were taking her, but it was probably better than anywhere near those people.

A small light temporarily blinded her left eye, the reflection of water shining a few meters away from her. Just a bit more. It was just a few more distances than she could hide behind those big trees, at least until the bad people go away.

Till a pair of sturdy arms scooped her up. She didn't even hear a single sound behind her. Goosebumps appeared on her skin, blood running cold from fear. Maybe if I pretend that this is all a dream, I might wake up.

But of course, this would be too realistic to be a dream, right? She yells out several Spanish and Filipino curse words in panic, thrashing around the hold and hoping to kick or at least punch the person.

The person was tall and big, judging by how hard and flat their chest felt, it was a man. Lily scratches him, biting the hand that tried to touch her face.

" It's okay, it's okay, " The man coaxed, wincing at the pain a small child had inflicted on him.

She didn't believe him. Despite the fact that the man wasn't fighting back against her, she still felt the rush of survival fueling her aggression. Her ragged breathing and the erratic thumping of her heart didn't cease. Her hands were slowly losing strength, black spots appearing in her line of vision. But the exhaustion from both physical and emotional caught up to her young body, unable to resist the need to pass out.

Her body lays limp in the arms of a young man, despite being passed out, her eyes were still open with no hint of emotion shown in them. It was an unsettling sight to see.

 A child covered in blood.

" Don't worry, brother is here. I'm right here. " She hears, barely hearing the other words he said after she was completely swallowed by exhaustion.

I have a what?
