After that spin that would cost him 8 places, Leclerc had finished 9th on the grid. But that didn't matter, as you saw lando, your bestfriend, step on the podium, a rare occasion for him or McLaren.
His fans, including you, were cheering for him as he showed his trophee to the crowd.
The anthem of the netherlands was played, the orange army going absolutely crazy over the fantastic recovery in the championship battle that Max had achieved. Next, the austrian anthem could be heard.
Everything went well for the day, you felt somehow bad for the mercedes drivers, so you went to them to say a few words of encouragement.
"Hey Lewis!" You shouted towards the britt
"Y/n! What brings you here?" He asked
"I just wanted to give you a few words for encouragement! I felt a bit bad for the performance you had today, no offence, but i'll just say that better races will come for you and mercedes." You said as Lewis showed you a heart-warming smile as he thanked you.
As you talked a bit more about the races and how life was going you heard a Max fan going absolutely nuts, something normal for his supporters, but this specific one was crossing the line.
"GO DIE HAMILTON!" he shouted
You both thought nothing of it untill a few screams and a 'GET DOWN!' was heard. In that moment you both looked surprised towards him as you saw a 30 year-old man pointing a gun at the 7 time world champion.
The security had rushed towards the man, grabbing him from wherever they could. But they couldn't stop him from what he did next.
He pulled the trigger.
You heard a gunshot. But just for a quick second. You felt a sharp pain in your stomach. Were you shot? You didn't know. You just wanted to sleep. You fell to the ground as you heard soft screams saying your name. Was that Lewis? Was that Lando? You didn't know. You just closed your eyes.
"Hello. How may i help you?" The nurse said
"Yeah, hi, i'm looking for a patient, her name's Y/n L/n" Lando said worringly
"Y/n...ok so she's currently in an emergency surgery, you can wait here in the waiting room and we'll let you know when she's ready"
Lando wanted to respond. He just couldn't. He was too shocked. Too angry. Too sad. Too scared. Scared to lose you. Afraid that he'll have to let go of you and forget you, afraid that he might never say what he wanted to tell you, afraid that you won't accept his feelings because you wouldn't even be breathing by then.
3 hours later the nurse said "Y/n L/n is ready in room 247" he just rushed towards your room, not even bothering to say a thank you. George and Lewis were also there, making sure that Lando wouldn't get lost or hurt and to make sure you're ok.
They knocked on the door as a doctor opened it.
"So she is stable, she is awake, nothing too bad, but we had a bit of complications as the bullet was pretty big and in a vital zone" he informed the boys. After that they rushed in your room.
In the moment he saw you. Awake, alive, safe, he ran to your bed and hugged you, carefully so he wouldn't reopen the wound.
"How are you still alive!" He cried
"It was just a bullet, dummy" you said laughing a bit.
"EXACTLY"
George and Lewis laughed at his words.
"Everything is going to be ok, Lando" you reassured him "I'm here, i'm alive, i'm still breathing"
Still hugging you, he grabbed your hand, with his free hand he did a gesture to the boys.
"It's nice seeing that you're safe" George said
"I know it wasnt max's fault, they found drugs in the mans system and the guys who checked him at the entry were fired" Lewis informed you "Call us when they let you leave" he added as the two mercedes drivers exited the room.
You heard a litte sob as you looked towards Lando
"Why are you crying?" You asked
"I thought i lost you!" He cried
"Lando i told you-" "no it's not that" he intrerupted you
"I thought i lost you. I thought i would never get the chance to tell you"
"Tell me what?" You asked
"That i love you.."
You looked at him with big shocked eyes "ok, wow, didn't see THAT ONE coming" you laughed to yourself.
After those words nothing more came from you. His heart dropped.
He felt your lung fill in with air, you were taking a deep breath, as his head was still lying on top of your chest
"Lando?"
"Yes?" He looked up at you
"Close your eyes, i wanna show you something" you said as he did as he was told.
You didn't wanna look too weird or anything so you took an advantage of it and kissed him as you felt his voice produce a surprised humm.
"So i'll take it as a positive response" he said
"Of course dummy, i wouldn't kiss you just because i wanted to know what it feels like"
