Some people envy his position, as it was the second highest job on the force, next to the head chief himself.
But this position comes with great responsibility.
And with great responsibility comes a ton of time consuming pressure.
Taehyun took one final look at the view outside of his window, and then stepped away from it, walking to his desk.
He turned his iMac computer on, typed in his password, opened a Word document, and then the Manila folder.
There were at least fifty sheets of paper inside the folder, just teasingly mocking the brunette for how much work he would have to do.
Taehyun groaned.
"Let's just get this shit over with."
Somebody should have probably warned Taehyun beforehand that this would take so much longer than expected.
Most of these files were missing people reports, some dating to last week, and others dating back to two years ago.
Makes me wonder why I didn't have those files during that time back then.
Taehyun checked every file with the table on the Word document, which had the name, date of disappearance, and also the details of how the case went and concluded.
Taehyun took out the stamp kit from his desk, and after carefully making sure he was using the correct ones, he stamped the files accordingly.
When he came to the 20th case, Taehyun glanced at the clock, and let out a loud gasp.
"11:30?!?!"
The drive to Juhyeok's school would take him twenty minutes starting now, and he wasn't even finished with half of his assignments!
And the last thing Taehyun wants is his moody boss sending a bullet through his skull for not completing his tasks on time.
Taehyun banged his head on the desk, just barely missing the inking pad that could've given him a black stain on the forehead.
"Fuck this shit, I'm out."
At that moment, the door to his office opened.
"Oh wow, looks like someone's having a bad day," a familiar voice said.
Taehyun looked up.
"Oh... hey Beomgyu."
Choi Beomgyu, Taehyun's best friend since high school, works here too, but as a psychologist for people experiencing trauma and anxiety.
Mr Oh thought it'd be a good idea to have at least three in their department, as a handful of their cases such as kidnapping or assault usually followed with mental side effects on the victims.
He picked a good choice: Beomgyu was a great psychologist and all his patients adored and loved him.
Too bad for them that he's taken and in a happy relationship.
"You look beat; did Mr Oh give you a hard time?" Beomgyu asked, handing Taehyun a cup of coffee from the canteen downstairs.
Taehyun sighed, nodded, and took a sip of the coffee, grimacing a little at the bitter taste.
"Yep. Gotta finish these files within like thirty minutes," Taehyun answered, pointing at the handful of pieces of paper.
"What?! In thirty minutes?!" Beomgyu exclaimed.
"Yep; he gave me until 12."
"Oh... dang, I'm sorry."
"It's fine."
