scary stories

"hey, hey. jungwon!" hisano raised her voice to get the attention of the other.

"mm." he hummed softly, raising his head from the comfy bed. he was laying on the bed with his feet nearest to the head rest while his arms dangled from the edge of the bed.

hisano was on the floor laying on her stomach as she read a random newspaper she found on her grandpa's shelf of miscellaneous.

"there's a bunch of scary stories and urban legends in this section. i'm gonna read them out to you." she grinned mischievously.

jungwon shook his head, "i'm okay."

hisano ignored his response, "once upon a time.."

jungwon sighed and stuffed his face back onto the bed.

she continued, "there was a mannequin maker and her husband who lived in an old boutique of their's. her husband designed clothes whilst she made mannequins, helping him from time to time."

hisano was so engrossed in the story that she didn't even realize that jungwon was trying his best not to listen, even covering his ears.

she continued to tell the story until it was nearing the end. "and then... he got so crazy that he ended up turning her into a mannequi-"

"nooo!" jungwon shut his eyes.

this startled hisano, making her look up at him. she was surprised to see him looking so scared.

he opened one eye, checking if she was finished before opening both. his eyes were teary. he really doesn't do good with scary stories.

"are you crying?!" hisano asked in shock, dropping the newspaper so she could comfort him.

"no." he quickly denied.

she reached out and hugged the lying boy. he didn't hug back, but he did stuff his face in her shoulder.

she was rubbing his back, babying him.

"i said i didn't want to listen to it." he sulked.

"i'm sorry!"

"...mkay" he said, not forgiving her. what she didn't know was that there was a smile creeping on his face.

he brought his arms out slowly to what seemed like he was going to hug her back, but instead, he attacked her. "boo!" he wrapped his arms around her tightly, squeezing the girl.

she gasped, completely surprised. "you scared me!" she slapped his butt and quickly removed herself from his embrace. he laughed before lying back down on the bed.

"now we're even, but i'm still mad at you." he said.

"mkay." she replied, not seeing any problem with his decisions.

he was joking, but her reaction wasn't quite what he expected. so he took it literally, being the child he is.

"fine." he said back with an attitude.

hisano on the other hand wasn't paying much attention to it, just thinking, 'oh well.'

for the next few minutes, she went back to reading that newspaper until she got bored enough.

he was waiting for her to say something or pay attention to him now that she was finished reading, but instead she got up and started roaming around the room, looking for something else to do.
