Fire. There was fire everywhere.

Berk was consumed whole by a terrible firestorm that spanned as far as his eyes could see. The place he'd worked so hard to build up after his father's death, decimated by unrelenting flames.

Horror swept his body as he found himself unable to move from his spot. From his position, he could hear the cry of his fellow Vikings and the nervous growls from the dragons as they sprinted toward the Great Hall.

"Oh my gods..." Astrid breathed out, voice quivering.

It was official. He was the harbinger of bad luck. Bork the Unfortunate was the luckiest man alive if he stood next to Hiccup. The gods didn't approve of him since birth and they had been waiting to deliver their final blow when he least expected it.

Great.

'No, Hiccup,' a voice within his head snapped at him. 'Focus.'

His consciousness woke up and immediately he felt a surge of blood flow through his veins. Like an adrenaline supplement.

Without another word said, he ran through the green hill toward the village houses. The closer he was to the fire, the harder it became to breathe. His heart hammered violently against his chest, a stinging sensation entering his lungs as the smoke invaded his body.

"Hiccup!" he heard a voice calling out behind him, but he blocked it. Hiccup knew Astrid and Gobber were right behind him, but at the moment, he had other problems to deal with.

What had started the fire? Who were these Dragon Hunters, and how were they capable of creating such a monstrous blaze in mere minutes?

No group of Hunters had ever been capable of causing this much destruction, especially since Gobber had explained there hadn't been many to wreck this level of havoc. Drago had done less damage, and he had hundreds of men under his command.

More importantly, why? Why would someone want to attack Berk out of nowhere?

Questions entered and bombarded his head, so much so, that he had to stop his sprint abruptly to dehaze his mind. So much was going on, and he had no clue as to why.

A childish cry sounded out that made the Chief look up. A grown woman embraced a little boy as she barely managed to get them out of the incomming embers. Grime and dirt were smeared on his round face, tears flowing and eyes wide in terror.

His body reacted way before his mind did and Hiccup ran up to the struggling mother to help her up. Once upright, she delivered an honored nod.

"Get to the Great Hall. Hurry!" he said to her. She left as quickly as she could.

Astrid finally caught up to her boyfriend, eyes roving across the once-colorful village. Sweat covered her face as the temperature around them rose each passing second.

"It's gone... All of it, it's gone."

He knew the feeling of loss. He was experiencing the same, for a second time. The overwhelming sense of helplessness, the pain stinging in your heart... The sentiments he'd grown familiar for many moons were returning, and he didn't want to experience it yet again.

The forest-green eyed Viking placed his hands above her shoulders to force her to look at him. "We have to focus, Astrid. We need to find the other Riders to try and find out what's going on."

The journey through the ashed village wasn't a pleasant one, but the couple tried not to dwell too much about it since it would inevitably stop them from reaching their goal.

Not too long after, blonde strands of hair came into view. Two figures stood outside of a burnt-down wooden structure, green paint smeared to the ground. It didn't take long for both Hiccup and Astrid to realize they had found the twins.
