The light in my eyes was bright but I was grateful I could see at all. I was lucky to be alive even. However, my sore muscles and slow thoughts was the least of my problems. I'm not in a hospital, hell, I'm not even on the road I was left to die on and that's what caused my worry to set in. Blinking my eyes into focus, I took in my surroundings. It was an apartment -cozy and simple- and I was in a bed I didn't recognize as my own. Not that I had one to call my own anyway.

"Good to see you're up," a voice spoke up; familiar but not one I could pick out as recognizable in my moment of confused delirium, "I was a bit worried you wouldn't make it."

I wanted to speak up, to reply in some way, but my threat was parched and I could only manage a croak. I had questions and I wanted -no, I needed- answers. A figure, decently tall, dark-haired, broad-shouldered, and fair skinned came into my peripheral. My breath caught as I took in the man's outfit. The bright blue bird upon a suit of black gave away who I was dealing with. I made an attempt to move away but I only succeeded in causing myself pain and grabbing my abdomen with a yelp.

"You've got light bruising on your ribs and that bullet wound will reopen if you keep moving," Nightwing said, "You're lucky it wasn't worse considering who you were dealing with."

"How?" I managed to whisper, "How did you find me?"

"Save your voice for now. Worry about getting in top condition before we start asking questions," he suggested, putting off my inquiries.

The bird and I looked at each other for a few moments, his expression unreadable thanks to his mask and tight-lined lips. I, myself, was confused and overall shocked by the whole situation. If Nightwing knew how I got into my situation and why, he would have me locked up; that's assuming he didn't know already.

I watched him leave and a relieved breath passed through my lips. I was also feeling a small bit of fear at everything going on.

When he came back, he was holding a small of water of which he handed to me. Muttering a horse thanks, I downed it. I felt the hydration unclench my vocal chords and I sighed as I lowered the glass to my lap.

"Now-" I had to clear my throat to rid myself of the last bits of hoarseness from my voice, "Now can I ask my questions?"

My voice sounded much better and I could tell my happiness at this fact did not go unnoticed to the bird in blue. I could see the faint hints of a smile cross his lips before he went straight-faced again. He seemed to ponder my question for a moment before meeting my eyes with an obvious proposition in mind.

"How about this," he started, "You ask one question and I'll try to answer, and I'll ask one question and you try to answer. Sound good?"

"Yeah," I agreed, "Sounds good. Do you want to start or...?"

"You start," Nightwing answered, tipping his head towards me in a friendly sort of way that made me feel a little more comfortable in his presence; he did prevent me from dying after all.

I had plenty of questions, most of which probably wouldn't be answered immediately or ever. I had to choose where to start or risk closing off any hope of getting anywhere. The bat boys were known for being relatively stubborn when it came to answering questions. I decided to take the easiest route to answers.

"Where am I?" I started, feeling it best to start with simple questions than go straight off the deep end.

"Blüdhaven, but I think you know that," Nightwing stated with a partial smirk before becoming serious again, "More specifically, the apartment of a friend of mine."

"Oh? I didn't know Batman's boys had friends," I replied with my own playful mirth, "I guess you learn things everyday. Your turn."

"What was your business with Blockbuster?"
