Y/n had joined the military herself. She worked as a sergeant for as long as she could remember. About ten years now. She joined for her own reasons and she couldn't have been happier with her decision. Sure there are times she wishes she would've picked a different career path, but when a mission goes successful and she can celebrate with her co-workers and friends alike, it makes all her doubts vanish. She'd be lying if she said she never thought about meeting up with Simon. The idea of them finally finding one another again after so long lingers in the back of her mind almost daily.
But it has been a long time. What if he's forgotten about her? He couldn't have, though, right?
Alas, y/n makes her way back to base, heading to her quarters when one of her close friends walk up to her.
"Y/N, did you hear? Did you get a call from the Chief? From the captain? Anyone?"
Y/N looks up, very confused.
"No, sorry. What the hell are you talking about?" She says.
"Captain Price says he's recruiting one of us to join 141. Laswell says she knows exactly who but won't spill. Where have you been?" Her friend rambles.
Y/N looks at her, "I've gone for a walk. I didn't know doing so would be such an inconvenience to myself." She says, slightly sarcastic.
But now she's mad that she's missed out on hearing this information.
Y/N knows Captain Price very well, working with him and Gaz a few times in the past. Y/N and Gaz were very close, the two didn't talk much though when they weren't working together, due to obvious reasons. So it's always nice whenever the two would mission up together, gave them time to catch up.
Then the idea of her being recruited made sense. But she's heard about 141. Would she make a good fit with them? She knew Price and Gaz, but was only familiar with the name of Segeant Soap Mactavish. What the hell kind of name is that? There was one more member, their lieutenant. She had no clue who that was though.
Now she was stuck thinking, if it were to be her to join, what mission involved the need to recruit a new member in the first place?
The girls friend was gone by now, walking back to the rec room and away from y/n. She only noticed because she finally left her thoughts when her phone began to ring.
Y/N looked around before answering her phone, flipping it open and placing it close to her ear.
"Sergeant Y/N, hello."
On the phone was a gruff voice laced with a thick British accent.
"Captain! What makes you call, sir?" Y/N responds, a small smile on her lips.
"I'm sure you've heard. I'm recruiting a new member for 141. With your skills and ability to work with others I know you'd be perfect." Price was smiling as he spoke. "Would you be willing to join us?"
Y/N couldn't decline, "of course!" She says, despite her nerves and worries earlier.
"Great. We'll send a chopper out your way tonight and you'll be here by tomorrow morning." He spoke.
"Sounds great, cap. See you then."
The phone hangs up and y/n flips it back down and slides it in her pocket, heading to her room to pack.
She didn't know how long this mission would take, she wasn't even sure what it was about. But she packed as much as she thought was necessary. The essentials and a few outfits. At least 5 outfits she'd wear out on the field and 3 that she could alternate between when off the field.
When she finished packing she walked over to her bed side table. She grabbed a book, in it was a lot of drawings and pictures. A scrap book.
She opened it up, being meet with a picture that she looks at often. It was the picture of Simon she'd been left with. On the page next to it was the letter he'd given her taped down to fit the page of the book.
She reads over it every now and then. Some parts were her favorites.
"Whether it's in a million years or two, I'll find you again. Please don't forget about me.
—
Just know I'll be thinking of you always. You've helped me in ways no one else could.
—
Keep being so selfless, y/n.
—
I love you."Y/N's heart flutters every time she'd read it.
She has to admit, she's had relationships in the past years but they've been very poor. No one could fill the void in the heart like Simon ever did.
Some days she tries to convince herself that she's crazy, she'll never find him.
It's a waste of time to continue on with this fantasy of finding him, being back with him.
But oh how she kept wishing.
They'd be together again. One day.
Even for a minute.
She just wants to know he's ok.
Her mind is usually filled with her family and friends when it's not stuck on work.
But currently her thoughts were interrupted, a knock on her door making her mind go blank.
"Sergeant," says a very familiar voice.
Chief Laswell.
What was she doing here?
"Coming," y/n calls out, grabbing her things.
She opens the door, nodding her head and smiling.
"Good to see you," Laswell says.
Y/N chuckles slightly, "Chief. What brings you here?"
"I'm your ride, silly." Laswell says, motioning her hand for the girl to follow her.
And she does, now y/n and Laswell walk down the halls to the exit of the base together.
A helicopter could be heard outside.
As the two walked outside, y/n had gotten loads of stares.
Some jealous, some proud.
Her friend was one of many who looked at her proudly. She ran over to the two ladies.
"Y/N, you're not gonna say goodbye?" She says.
Y/N looks up, "oh right. Shit." She says.
She stops the chief and lowers her belongings before hugging her friend.
"Be safe out there. You're one lucky girl." Her friend teases.
Y/N smiles and pulls away before her and Laswell go back on their way.
"Captain said the helicopter would be later tonight." Y/N says, getting louder as they got closer to the helicopter.
"That's what we thought as well, but we then considered the travel time. You're going straight to Las Almas to meet them and Colonel Vargas."
"The Mexican Special Forces." Y/N says, mainly to herself. "Am I in for a big mission that we're crossing countries overnight?"
Laswell chuckles, helping the girl into the chopper.
"I'll tell you everything over the ride."
And with that, once y/n and her luggage was all aboard, the pilot set off and they were on their way to Las Almas.

Two quick notes, I don't know much about the military itself so if I get few things wrong I apologize in advanced. And also, if at any point I use second person pov instead of third lmk so I can fix it, I'm just so used to using second lmao. Love y'all <3
