It had been three days since you had first met Edward Elric, and for three days, you had successfully avoided him. Little did you know, that streak was about to end.

You were at headquarters on lunch break, mulling over what you were actually going to eat for lunch. Out of the corner of your eye you saw a flash of red and swung your hair around to cover your face. Watching through your curtain of hair, you saw the person walk by. It was just a lower-class alchemist. Sighing in relief, you turned back to the menu you had in your hand. "What to get?" You mumbled to yourself.

"Hiya, (y/n)! What's up?" Said an excited voice. One eyebrow coming up, you looked over the top of your menu at the person who had just dropped into the seat across from you. It was Hughes. "Do you need something, sir?" You asked with a small cough. "Well, I wanted to tell you about the cutest little thing that Elicia did the other day..."

You had ordered your food and half finished eating, and Hughes was still talking about his daughter. How can you talk for so long about one subject?! You thought, leaning your head into your hand. Suddenly, you got a strange feeling that someone was looking at you.

You turned around, looking for the culprit. Seeing no one, you turned back to the lieutenant colonel. Then your eyes met the golden ones of Edward Elric over Hughes's shoulder. Instantly both of you blushed and looked away. You waited for a break in the endless, one-sided conversation you were having with Hughes and stood up.

"Well, my lunch break is over. I'm sorry, sir, but I have to go," you apologized. "But I was just getting to the good part!" Hughes whined. "Sorry? Maybe we can talk again?" You asked, backing away slowly with your hands held out in front of you. Before he could answer, you turned around and practically ran away from him.

You turned a corner and leaned against the wall with a sigh of relief, ignoring the strange looks your coworkers gave you. One person did a double take, though, and came back to talk to you. "You are the only person nice enough to listen to Hughes talk for so long," they said. "Hello, Havoc. Do you need something?" You asked, pinching the bridge of your nose with a small sigh.

"As a matter of fact, I do," the blond-haired man said, "Colonel Mustang said that he needed to see you in his office. Something important." "Ok, I'll head over there," you said. As you had nothing else to do, you started to make your way to the Colonel's office.

You stopped at the big door labeled "Col. Mustang." You opened the door and walked in. "Ah, (y/n)," the raven-haired man looked up as he spoke, "so... How was your date?" He said with a smirk. You stared at him for a second, took a deep breath, and said, "Did you need something?"

"Yes, actually, I did," said Mustang. "I have a new mission for you. You'll be working with partners, so I'll explain in full when they get here." You sat down in one of the chairs in front of Mustang's desk, putting your feet up on his desk as the two of you waited for your partners.

Around half an hour later, the door slammed open. "What do you want, bastard?" Said a voice, followed by an indignant "Big brother!" You went red, then turned and gave Mustang the evil eye. Mustang stood up, a slight irk mark appearing on his forehead. He gave you a strange look, as you seemed to be trying to disappear into your chair. "I have an assignment for the three of you," he said.

"Three of us?" The first voice questioned. Edward Elric walked forward and peered down at you in the big chair. Both of you blushed, looking away from each other. You cleared your throat nervously as Edward sat in the chair next to yours. Even though the chairs were a few couple away from each other, they felt uncomfortably close.

The two of you didn't realize the uncomfortable silence that was filling the room. "Nice to see you again, (y/n)," said the second voice sweetly. "Nice to see you too, Alphonse," you said quietly.

"So, your assignment," said Mustang hastily, hoping to break up the silence. "You're going to be investigating a series of attacks on supply trains in Pleonuk. We feel that there might be some dangerous Alchemists involved, so be careful."

You and Ed both saluted as Ed said, "But about this pair-." "You two should be going," Mustang interrupted, "It's a big trip." Edward rolled his eyes as he and Al walked out of the room. You turned to Mustang, pointing at him as you gave him a death glare. "I am going to kill you. To death."
