You made it back! Without further ado, I present the next chapter *canned applause*. This is gonna be longer than usual ~ Nat
Tam POV:
Those shadows weren't shadowflux, but they also weren't shadowvapor. It actually reminded me of the starkflower stew Sophie let us try once. Calla taught her how to make it, and apparently the reason the stew is so dark is because the shadows in the starkflowers are absorbed by the stew. It would also explain how I was able to drink shadows.
I told Elwin about my discovery, and he bottled some of it up in a vial. He wanted to run it by Lady Zillah to see if she would know anything more about the liquid, dry darkness.
As for Keefe, I was going to try to get rid of the shadows, but Elwin stopped me.
"Tam you can do that another day. And before you interupt, A- you passed out a few minutes ago, B- I need to run some tests on Keefe, and C- you should rest. Come back in a day or two and try again, but if you try now, I'm kicking you out." And with that he waved bye to us and we headed to the Leapmaster. Sophie looked so broken without Keefe, so Biana and I decided to accompany her home.
Biana POV:
We glittered into view of Havenfield, where Grady was trying to feed the new T-Rex, more successfully than with Verdi. As soon as he saw us, he walked over, surprisingly clean.
"Who's Verdi's new friend?" I asked.
"Biana, Tam, meet Azura. she used to live in the Sanctuary, but she injured herself, so she's staying here til she's better" he replied. "Why don't you guys head inside? Edaline just baked some butterblasts and candypuffs."
"What are candypuffs?" Sophie asked. That was the first time I heard her talking all day.
"You'll see. Race ya" And I ran towards to door, Tam already there. The candypuffs where warm, as if Edaline had just taken them out of the oven. The center of the triangular pastry was filled with caramelly goodness, with just a hint of blitzenberry. The part was that it also fizzed and popped like a blitzenberry. I happily took another, and this time it tasted like lushberry and custard. I think we all ate around six candypuffs each, and by the time Grady came back in, he only had two left.
"Thank you Edaline, they were amazing" Sophie said, as she gave her a hug. We went up to Sophie's room, and after she tripped for the second time, Tam used his telekinesis to safely get her to her room.
We hailed Linh, Dex, Fitz, Marella, Wylie, and Stina to help us cheer Sophie up, and they arrived in a few minutes.
"Let's play a game" Linh said.
"How about truth or dare, but with a twist. If you don't answer a truth, you have to hold hands with the person next to you, and if you don't do a dare, you have to kiss the person on your right." I said. Everyone agreed, and we sat in a circle. The order was me, Tam, Fitz, Marella, Stina, Linh, Wylie, Dex, Sophie, and me again. I went first.
"Tam truth or dare"
"Dare"
"I dare you go downstairs, shout 'I love all things pink, sparkly and bright', and then run back up."
He reluctantly left the room. A few moments later, we heard he shouting "I love all things pink, sparkly and bright" and then running back up.
"Happy?" he asked.
"Very" I said, and Linh pinched his cheeks.
"Dex truth or dare" he said
"Truth"
