Draco's POV
It's been several days, I left my room for the first time a couple days ago, Pansy did too, but Kayden, Y/n, or Max haven't left the confinement of their rooms. Max and Kayden have spoken and been eating, but Y/n hasn't said a word, apart from how many seconds it's been since Mattheo...since it happened.
She refuses to speak anything other than huge numbers, she's seriously worrying us. She wont even eat, it's been days, but there's just nothing we can really do apart from try to make her, which is a lot easier said than done.
I go in every couple hours to check on her, to try to make her eat, to tell her that I love her, but...I'm worried she's gone mad, her behavior is reminding me of something I read about before. During the first wizarding war people on the other side were tortured into insanity, and they acted like how she is now.
I enter Y/n's room for the first time today and am not surprised when I see her sitting at the end of her bed, a mad look in her e/c eyes, her hair a mess, bloodshot irises, muttering to herself and running her fingernails along her arms.
"Y/n?" I go and sit next to her, laying my hand on her back, rubbing up and down slowly. "How you doing? Are you feeling alright? Are you finally gonna eat today?" I whisper,
"four hundred thirty-two thousand, four hundred thirty-two thousand and one-"
"Y/n, come on, stop it. Counting seconds isn't gonna make anything better,"
"four hundred thirty-two thousand and...he's really gone." she whispers at last. I know her words weren't exactly cheerful, but it was good to hear her say something other than numbers.
"Darling...I know, I'm so sorry that this has happened. It's horrible, really, it is. I know how much Mattheo meant to you, and I know this is hard. But I'm here-"
"He's really gone." she says, this time louder, tears lace her tired voice. "It's only all a dream, though. I'm gonna wake up soon and all this will be over." she looks to me with hope gleaming in her eyes. My heart drops. "I'll wake up in bed, and I can see him again, can't I?"
How the hell do I answer that?
"N-no. You're not dreaming, Y/n. This...is all real. I know it's hard to process but-"
"I'm only dreaming! I'm gonna wake up soon and I'll be so relieved that Mattheo isn't actually dead."
"You're not dreaming!" I slightly raise my voice from the whisper it was at previously. She looks a little startled, shit, I didn't mean to scare her.
"I'm...not dreaming?"
"No." I soften my voice again, "I'm sorry."
"But...Mattheo can't be dead." her voice breaks on the last word. "I don't want him to be dead!"
I wrap my arms around her as she breaks into heavy, loud sobs.
"It's gonna be alright," I whisper holding her in my arms comfortingly. "You're okay, I know it's hard to let go. But he's gone."
"Why did this happen?" she sobs, clutching onto me, slowly becoming more aware of the life around her, aware that she's awake.
"I don't know, darling. But it's gonna be alright, you may not feel like it is now, but eventually you'll be okay."
"I'm never gonna see him again!" She cries loudly. "What am I gonna do without him?"
"We'll all struggle to get by without Matt here. But we'll make it together."
She sobs, and sobs, and sobs for hours, it amazed me how she could cry so much for so long and not run out of tears. My entire shoulder is wet with her tears and she's shaking a lot.
