A day passed since you had last seen Lady Dimitrescu.
A day since any songs escaped her lips...
A day since you had made the wrong choice...
You were starting to worry that she was angry with you after such vile insults escaped your mouth.
Scared for your life and desperate to know what your fate you would befall, the first person you went to see was the oldest Dimitrescu daughter, Cassandra. She came up with no answer, so you confided in Bela for answers. She hadn't come up with anything either. This had taken place last night, and you doubted that they went searching for answers with their mother in such a bad mood.
Now stuck looking to Daniela, you gently tapped your fingers on the girl's door, sighing as you knew how this would turn out. Within seconds, the door flew open and the youngest Dimitrescu daughter emerged.
"Hi, Daniela. May I have a word with you, in private?" The girl nodded and led you into her chambers, patting a couch near her bed. You quickly sat and looked at her sullenly. "Do you and your sisters feel safe here? Does your mother do anything else behind closed doors?" You gently asked. Daniela smiled fondly at your selflessness.
"No, y/n. Of course we feel safe. Why?" Daniela quirked a brow.
"After seeing her lay her hands on you... so roughly... I... felt bad.." you let the emotions seep into your words as you spoke. "You and your sisters can talk to me if you ever feel unsafe... My-my father was an alcoholic... and-d... that brought back some bad memories..."
"Y/n, listen to me. Mother tends to break things when she's upset, but there was nothing nearby so she... used us, I suppose..."
"B-But... She could have hit me instead, since she has such a distaste for men!"
"Yet she does not have a distaste for you." Daniela murmured.
"What?"
"Y/n. I appreciate your concern. Everything is going to be fine." There was a light pause before Daniela pulled you into a caring embrace. It felt a bit out of character for a Dimitrescu sibling, but you decided to cherish the moment and return the hug. It made you feel... somewhat better. A weight was lifted off your chest as the two of you embraced each other harder. Daniela was the first to pull away at the sound of her mother's voice.
"Daniela, step away from the mortal for the time being. I have something I would like to address with him. Alone."
"Yes, mother." Daniela bowed obediently and left the room. You glanced up at the tall woman, wondering what she could possibly want at this time of morning.
"Y/n, I apologize on behalf of my daughters..."
Anger began to run through your veins at her words. "Alcina, what the fu—"
"...and my behavior. It was not justified to treat you in such a way." She averted her eyes from you, this being your second time seeing her looking slightly ashamed.
"N-no, it's alright!" You insisted, your heart not being able to stand the way her voice wavered ever so slightly. The tall woman sighed, beginning to walk away "Well, I think I'll be going now—"
You quickly seized her by her gloved hand. "N-no. Please... don't leave. I want to be here.... With you." You nervously admitted. "I'll do anything to make things up between us. Anything." You threw your arms around her waist, holding back your tears. Lady Dimitrescu staggered back in shock, her face all of a sudden getting hot at your gesture.
"I'm sorry... it's just been really hard to adapt here... a-and... I should have never said those things to you..." you buried your face in the silk of her dress, hiccuping softly.
"Oh, draga mea." Lady Dimitrescu knelt down to your level, gently wiping your tears. "You were completely justified in what you said... I should have never spoken to you... or my daughters that way..."
"But... I still should have minded my business." You faltered. Without thinking, you grabbed both of her hands and placed them in her lap, leaning in to kiss her forehead.
"No. I am glad that you interfered." Lady Dimitrescu said as your lips made contact with her smooth skin. "I fear I could have hurt them if you hadn't done so."
"So, I suppose we've made amends." You murmured with a light smile and placed a hand under her chin as she took a seat in front of you. Oh, you were dying to take this woman on a date.
"I have to get to know her first..." you unconsciously murmured aloud. Lady Dimitrescu's head snapped upward at your comment. "Oh, you're thinking about me, are you?"
"N-No! I—I... mean... maybe! B-but not like that! In a friend w-way!" You sputtered out, red staining your cheeks.
"Sure~" Lady Dimitrescu teased you again before straightening her posture. "You truly are too flustered to speak. I suppose I'll be on my way now. I have some business to tend to, but I'm glad that I could appeal to you enough to gain your forgiveness." She stood and smoothed out her dress, giving you a polite wave as she walked through the door,
"Oh. B-Bye..." the redness in your face began to fade at last as once again, one word crossed your mind.
How?
How could this woman be so charming?
