2 years of Fimbulwinter

I knew I was asleep. I wasn't sure where I was, only that I felt safe and as if I were awake. I had gone to sleep. I remember crying a bit over Freya, Kratos doing his best to console me, and Mimir quietly telling stories to distract me.

I can say they made a great team in many ways. Kratos comforted me with his arms and emotions. Mimir used very expressive words. They filled the areas of each other where they each lacked.

I sat in an abyss. At least that's what it reminded me of. It was dark with a light shining on me and around me. I wasn't the light source here but I couldn't see what was. This place trapped me in an emotion of peace and calm. It felt forced as if to make me feel okay with being here. I couldn't say if I liked or disliked it. All I could feel was peace, calm, and safe.

It wasn't exciting, yet it was better than some of the nightmares I'd been having lately.

"(B/n), you may not hear me but I pray you are safe and okay wherever you are." I whispered a prayer as I usually did. This time I added something in for Freya. "I pray she forgives me for not standing with her."

"Sometimes, the only thing you can do is let go of the people you have lost." I looked behind me. "If only not be taken over by getting them back or getting revenge." He was an older, partially bald man with a missing eye. He was covered in light, thin-lined tattoos, had a skinny build, and walked with a walking stick. He wore a blue garment and a thick, long cloak that just barely touched the ground. He slowly made his way to me. He seemed aged but wise.

"Who are you?" I asked. He shook his head. "That is not important. What is important is that I am here to answer your prayer."

"What prayer?"

"Your brother is safe. I have my eyes on him. He is with people that will protect and guide him down the right path."

"You're... a god? May I ask which one?"

"You can ask but I have many names. However, I believe our focus should stay on the topic of your brother, yes?"

I nodded.

"He was taken after he left you. Full of anger and ready to fight anyone that he deemed worth it. Which," he chuckled, "was everyone. What was it you two last said to each other?"

"Is that important?"

"I think it is important to him. Since you were there, I would like to be able to help him if I can. He is still furious after all this time."

"I left him to fend for himself in the woods."

"Really? Do you think that was a good idea?" he asked with a curious tone, not a mocking one.

"He wasn't really alone. We were there, just far enough to be out of his sight. He was attacked and survived and then found a safe area."

"A safe area? What was the safe area?" I looked at him for a moment then shrugged.

"He wouldn't be attacked there. That's all I can really say." Something made me bite my tongue about Freya. He noticed.

"Well. If you want, I can pass a message to him, if you have one."

"Tell him that I love him, that I am so sorry, and that we miss him very much. He always has a home with us. I would never purposely put him in harm's way."

"Is that all?" He asked. I nodded. "If needed I will visit you again." I tried to read him. The emotions here grew thicker as I tried. It overpowered me. He gave a soft, knowing smile but it didn't ease me.
