JeongWoo felt like he was about to do the biggest crime. His chest felt heavy, his hands were clammy from the terrible feelings running in his blood. He wasn't innocent when it came to committing crimes. He had killed a quite number of people and yet that felt less like a crime compared with what he was about to do to his mate.
"Are you sure you're going to be okay? I can cancel my trip if you want me to." He said to Junkyu, secretly hoping the omega would ask him to stay so he could have a reason to stop his own madness.
Junkyu looked up at the alpha and mustered a smile. "I will be okay." He said. His tone didn't exactly mirror the confident words.
He honestly felt anxious since JeongWoo told him he's going to have an overnight business trip a couple hours ago during their breakfast time. JeongWoo said it's an urgent matter, the reason why Vince came to their place late at night; something about accident in one of his offshore oil rigs. Junkyu once watched a disaster movie with oil rigs as the main location, and from what it was portrayed, accident in such oil drilling site is nothing light, people could lose their lives.
It wasn't why he felt anxious though as JeongWoo told him the situation was already handled well, and he's going to be there out of his responsibility as the company's owner. He was anxious because JeongWoo had to fly to the site. The thought of him going to lose his mate for the second time from a plane crash still there looming in his head. Haruto's accident traumatized him, and to this day he's not yet able to go on a trip by air. Not that he ever had a trip after Haruto's death, but still, he felt his stomach churning from the idea of him stepping on a plane alone.
"I have your t-shirt with me, it should be enough." He said, pointing his chin at the plain white t-shirt laying on the bed; the same t-shirt JeongWoo wore to bed last night.
It was another thing that made him feel uneasy. For the first time after he moved, he's going to spend the night without his alpha. He convinced himself he should get used to it as it won't be his alpha's last business trip.
Hiding a slight disappointment from Junkyu's answer, the alpha cupped his omega's face and forced a smile. "If you say so." He leaned and kissed Junkyu's forehead. "I go now, hmm?"
Junkyu nodded and nervously watched as JeongWoo grabbed his suitcase. Something tugged on his chest. It felt strange to see JeongWoo with a suitcase instead of his usual briefcase. And instead of just one night, it felt as though he's going to leave him for days, and possibly never going to return again...like Haruto.
The alpha waved a bye then headed out, but before he could reach their bedroom door, Junkyu stopped him by pinching a small fabric of his suit sleeve with both hands. JeongWoo's eyes caught the baby-like grip and went up only to meet with the owner's crown instead of his face.
"Sweetheart?" He moved his free arm and put his fingers under Junkyu's chin, gently lifting his face up. "Hey, what's wrong, sugar?" He asked worriedly upon seeing his omega's round eyes brimming with tears, his nose picked up a sour scent wafting out from him.
Junkyu felt stupid. He knew for the past five years airplane accident rate was one accident in every 1.2 million flights, and statistically and probabilistically speaking, the chance of JeongWoo died in a car crash is two hundred and forty times higher than the odds of him being in an accident during a flight, and yet he couldn't erase the thought he's going to lose him the same way he lost Haruto.
"Y-you're g-going to...c-come b-back, r-right?" He stuttered and a big fat tear rolled from his left eye at the last word.
JeongWoo's heart sank. He removed his grip on the suitcase handle, stripped his suit jacket off and lifted his omega up. He carried him to the bed like he was carrying a koala with Junkyu's long legs wrapped around his waist and arms around his neck. They sat down on the edge of the bed still in the same position, the omega on JeongWoo's lap.
