Hey there! In addition to my main story, I've decided I'll do a mini-series on here which shows how Polarized (I'm getting tired of writing the title all the time, maybe I can turn it into an abbreviation? Like PZD, for example?) came about. I may post pictures of early character designs and things that inspired certain elements of the plot here, as well as descriptions of the story in its early stages and how it changed over time, so buckle up and enjoy the ride!
-To be fair, the beginnings of Polarized are rather murky, as I cannot pinpoint any single event that made me think "yeah, I should write a modern fairy-tailish fantasy story with a plot that's REALLY FRICKING COMPLICATED, featuring a popsicle with social anxiety, her lying older brother, a battery with even more anxiety, some owl dude, and his pet lizard." Rather, the creation of Polarized was something that happened gradually, over many years, most of it taking place inside my head in the form of (possibly maladaptive) daydreaming.
-The earliest traces of Polarized can be traced back to my pre-covid middle school days, (for context, I'm in eleventh grade now and the pandemic hit for me when I was in eighth grade) though the plot really began to take shape around 2021 or 2022 despite me not writing it down yet. It may be fair to say that the current Polarized is more of an amalgamation of plots and OC ideas I've come up with over the years rather than a single story in itself, and its past versions looked highly different from how it is now.
-I initially wanted to write a webcomic, and even uploaded the first chapter of Polarized on Webtoon around early 2022 or so. But I later realized that drawing comic panels was a long and time-consuming process, and I could convey my ideas more efficiently through writing, so I deleted the chapter from Webtoon and switched over to 抖阴社区. But since I still wanted to draw, I thought I'd make illustrations that would accompany the story rather than telling it.
-I wrote the first 5-6 chapters on 抖阴社区 in 2022, (Beware of Telepath may have been the last chapter I've published on 抖阴社区 at that time) where nobody really read them, so I eventually deleted my work and switched to AO3 in May of that year. Since then, I began uploading chapters semi-periodically, and as of recently began uploading on 抖阴社区 again to gain a wider audience.
-The title of this book has a double meaning: not only does it refer to Polaris, whom Skye is reincarnated from, but it can also mean "to divide or cause to divide into two sharply contrasting groups or sets of opinions or beliefs." That is exactly what's going on with the aura-havers vs. people who are afraid of them, hence the title.
