"I can pack a bag right now."
"No, Jaxon. You need to stay here." I laugh as he stands behind me as I finish packing my bag.
Let's just say he isn't happy about me going without him. I need to fix my career and he needs to fix his. I love him, I really do but I wouldn't be able to focus on this with him with me.
"What if something happens and I'm not there? What if I can't get to you in time?" He voice is small and quiet. I've never heard him sound so sad.
"I will text you and call you if I need you. Plus, we'll be texting so much, it'll feel like I never left." I tell him, turning in his hold.
A stern frown is set on his face as his stress wrinkle shows in between his eyebrows. His dark eyes displays his worry and his hands holds onto me as of I'd disappear in thin air.
"I'll know, I won't be able to touch you or kiss you. How am I supposed to know you've eaten?" His deep voice goes higher as he tries to convince me.
"I will tell you when I eat and I won't be gone for long." I tell him, tugging his neck.
Lies.
I probably won't eat as much and I have no clue how long I'll be gone. I'm sure they'll be some show in New York but if it's anything like it was before, I'll be on a jet to my next appearance.
"I don't want to go and I don't want to go without you but it need to happen. I'm 23, I have to earn money somehow." I sigh, stepping out of his touch to put my bags on the bed.
"Baby, I have enough money for you and me and our kids and their kids and their kids. You don't have to work." He explains and I can feel his harsh glare pointed at the bags.
"This is what I do, Jaxon. I model, you knew this and you still signed yourself up for me." I run a stressed hand through my hair.
"Don't say my name like that." He says hurtfully, wrapping his arms around me once more.
"I leave in two hours. Sweetheart, I don't want to argue anymore about this." I tell him, relaxing my body against his.
"Okay, baby." He mumbles, kissing my neck.
"You need to stop worrying, you're going to gain more wrinkles."

Jaxon doesn't say anything, he just wraps his arms around me and lifts me, making me wrap around him. I let him so I can relish his scent and touch once more.
People are loading the jet and preparing for take off while we stand here. I don't think he'll let me go.
"You'll be safe and take Zorror with you everywhere, right?" He asks, receiving a hum from me.
"I'll have people watching you, so don't freak out if you see the same person in a row near you." He tells me before he slowly lets me down.
"I'll be fine, don't worry about me. I'm a big girl, I can handle myself." I tell him, lifting my arm to show off my muscles.
"I know, I just- I love you, Karlie. I won't be able to breathe if something happens to you. I won't and you can't expect me too." He says sternly, cupping my face.
"I know." I tell him softly as I stare up at him adoringly and cup one of his hands.
"We're ready, Don." The pilot says from behind me.
"Take care of your Donna, or I'll hunt you down and your entire family. Torturing them in ways no one can imagine while you watch, then-"
"He gets it." I cut his rant off, waving at the pilot. The poor man looks like he was about to piss his pants.
"I love you, Karlie. Be careful." He tells me before bringing his lips to mine.
Normally when he kisses me, it's spicy and heats my body just by his touch but this time, he kisses me gently and passionately, filling my stomach with fluttering butterflies.
His tongue leaves gentle strokes against mine as he pulls my body impossibly closer to his.
I'm the one that breaks away from him because I'm pretty sure he didn't intend on stopping until we were back home and in our bed.
"I love you, Jaxon." I tell him, pecking his lips once more before jogging away from him and up the stairs.
I smile at the nervous pilot before taking my seat by the window. I watch as Jaxon glares at a couple men in front of him while giving them orders. I watch until I can't see them no more.
I keep my head angled down so I don't get a headache from the flashes. What a lovely welcome.
"Where have you been, Karlie?" "Why were you gone for so long?" "Are you still with Jaxon Cole?" "You look a little pale!" "Are you pregnant?"
Rude motherfuckers. I can barely move and I have three men in black in front of me and three more behind me with Zorror at my side, barking but not leaving my side.
I take a deep breathe as I enter the building. The white polished floors and walls, the clean smell, it's not something I miss.
I miss Jaxon.
"Karlie! Finally! Are you ready?" Janice says, hooking her arm around mine and making me pick up my pace.
"For what?"
"You are going to join the Mrs. America pageant! How exciting!" Janice basically squeals in my ear.
"Oh, no I am not." I groan with wide eyes, stopping my feet from moving anymore.
"Oh, yes you are! It'll be amazing and it'll bring back your popularity. Designers are staring to question if they can use you as a client or not." Janice says, whispering the last part.
She's probably right but there's a lot of training that needs to be done for Mrs. America and a lot of time. Plus, I've only won a few crowns and I don't think that's enough for this pageant. I mean, I know I won Mrs. California but that doesn't mean I can win Mrs. America.
"Fine. Do I have to do shows and shoots as well as training for this?" I ask begrudgingly before we start walking again.
"It would be for the best, Karlie. I'm just making sure you keep your career. You've worked so hard to get to where you are right now." She tells me as we get into the elevator.
I watch as the elevators doors shut and kiss away any freedom I've had for the last couple of months.
