Killer POV
~~~~~~~~
"Does it take this long to kill Y/N?" I muttered, crossing my arms as I paced up and down the hallway.
"Maybe she fought back." Error suggested. "You've seen her fight, Killer. Do you think she would be able to survive this long?"
"I don't know..." I murmured. "I taught Dust every counter move to any attack Y/N's ever shown me."
"Perhaps you should go see how he's doing." Nightmare suggested to me.
"Yeah, I- I think I'll go do that." I replied.
"But don't get caught. Stay in the trees."
"G-Got it, boss." I couldn't keep the stutter out of my voice as the possibility of Y/N overpowering Dust- or worse, Dust remembering her- crept into my head. I shook the thoughts away and teleported to Dust's AU.
~~~~~~~~
"DON'T TRY TO MAKE ME FEEL BETTER!" I heard a familiar voice snarl.
Dust. I thought. Fear crept into me. Who's he talking to...? His ghost brother?
I walked farther through the forest until I saw five figures. One was lying limp on the ground, bleeding and obviously dead, whereas the other four were kneeling around the dead one.
Oh no... I had to hold back a yell as I saw Dust brush the hair out of Y/N's face. He let out a sob and closed his eyes, gently pulling her body into his embrace, clearly trying to preserve the last traces of warmth in her. Dust cried and cried. It made my heart hurt. His entire body was shaking uncontrollably.
"I'm so sorry..." He whispered into Y/N's ear as I got into earshot. "...I-" He set Y/N back down in the snow and pulled up a glowing orange button in front of him that said 'RESET.' My breath caught in my throat as he spoke. "I swore I'd never use this again..."
Dust- I- I clenched my fists. I knew it. I fucking knew it. I should've- I- I SHOULD'VE GOTTEN HIM MORE LV OR SOMETHING, DAMNIT! I kicked the snow, then glanced at the others to make sure they hadn't heard me.
"Would you come back...?" Dust looked at Y/N.
"It's not worth it, Dust." Dream said quietly.
Dust's fist closed around the button, causing it to evaporate. He let out another sob and grabbed Y/N in his arms again.
"You didn't deserve this." She murmured to Y/N. "I'm so sorry. I'll avenge you, Y/N. I'll kill Nightmare. I'll disembowel Killer. I'll-" He broke off with a pathetic sob and curled up in the snow, clinging to Y/N's body desperately.
His sobs echoed through the forest as I backed away slowly, not sure how I was going to explain this to Nightmare.
~~~~~~~~
"Hey, uh, boss...?" I said awkwardly and quietly. "I... I have news-"
"What?" Nightmare spun around. Everyone else looked at me expectantly.
"Did he kill her?" Horror asked.
"What's taking him so long?" Error tapped his foot on the ground irritatingly.
"I- I-" I looked at the ground. "He remembers." My voice was barely a whisper.
"WHAT?" Nightmare snarled, slapping me with a tendril. I winced, but it didn't hurt nearly as much as the fact that Dust was currently sobbing in the snow, crying over Y/N, and it was all my fault.
"H-He remembers." I repeated louder. "When- When I got there- I saw him- He was crying... Y/N was clearly d-dead though..."
"I mean, at least Y/N is dead." Error shrugged. "We don't really need Dust, do we-?"
